Riverton is about 7 or 8 miles northeast of Springfield. It's technically a village. We have a typical village government: a village president, board of trustees, etc. The sign says that about 3,000 people live in Riverton, but it seems smaller than that. Everyone knows pretty much everyone else, and their business. I'm serious, if you went into your room at midnight, closed the blinds, shut off the lights and sneezed, the next day 50 people would ask you about your cold.
Anyway, in Riverton there are: 2 pizza places, 3 bars, 1 restaurant, 1 Subway, 2 car washes, a grocery store, about 6 barber shops and salons, 2 antique stores, and 1 Eagle's Lodge. That should give you a good idea about what the people are like. There are 4 schools: the elementary school, the middle school, the high school, and the University of Riverton fondly known as Whattsa-Matta-U. Just kidding, the fourth school is the Riverton Christian Academy; it has about 40 students in grades K-12. The high school has about four-hundred students. They come from Riverton, Spaulding, Clearlake Township, and the outskirts of Springfield. There were 80 in my graduating class.
