Hatching 1
Erianu lay on the Corals, waiting patiently for bonders to come. And finally
one came. The boy was quite unsure of himself and a bit at a loss about
being here. Erianu waited for one of the eggs to feel his presence. Suddenly
a small egg cracked, revealing a green male.
"Cantei." Erianu named him, a name she and her current mate had agreed on
quite easily.
The green male clumsily slithered to his bond. Afterwards they left. Leaving
Erianu to guard her other eggs. Erianu was a bit sad about that. There were
no other females on the beach and it got lonely...
After that first bonding Erianu had to wait longer. Too long. The babies
started to be crowded in their eggs. Some of the bigger rocking and wobbling
like there was an inner struggle going on. Hastily Erianu called her bond,
Aryan. Erianu was very worried about the prospect of having to take care of
5 new hatchlings herself. Even if her pack helped that would be one big
task. Plus, that would disrupt her moonlight swims.
Aryan waited, she couldn't really do anything for her bond. She couldn't
stop the eggs from hatching, she could take on maybe one more Atcydia if
Erianu helped, but not 5! She too liked her moonlit walks.
Cracks were already beginning to appear in the shells when a troop of girls,
you couldn't call them anything else, came forth. Driven by their pets
apparently. They had more pets together than Aryan had ever seen together in
one room.
"Can we help?" One of the girls asked.
"Thank the Angels!" Aryan shouted and directed the girls to the eggs.
Aryan winked at Erianu who was also very pleased about this sudden fluke.
There would be many moonlit walks and swims in the future.
Aryan noted two of the girls standing more at the back, while the other two
crowded to the front, walking between the eggs. One gasped as an egg broke
right in front of her revealing a silky pink female.
"Hey guys! I got a pink!" she shouted, looking very pleased.
"Great Merel!" the blond one shouted back.
Erianu snorted to get the attention, looked at her daughter and said:
"Evrei."
The little pink happily danced around her new bond, jumping in excitement,
probably telling her all the things she had planned while she had been in
her egg.
The second girl to impress was the blond one. She seemed to be the more
stabile of the group. A hopelessly romantic too as she softly whispered:
"What's in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet..."
The egg in front of her cracked. To everyone's astonishment, and to Erianu's
pleasure the egg revealed two very small babies. One was the colour of the
night sky, as dark and loving as his mother. The other was a bright yellow
female, the colour of the sun sparkling in her hide. She was even brighter
than her father.
"Paris." Erianu nodded to the Indigo.
"Reigna." she called at her daughter, who had almost left without waiting
for her name.
Before the three left completely Erianu caught some thoughts about Summer
fields, filled with small flowers... but also about how it would feel to be
there at night. Erianu smiled. An unusual couple, but they would do ok.
Only 3 eggs remained and the three remaining girls became more confident.
Both girls who had been standing near the entrance had gone further in.
Suddenly Erianu saw the two coloured lizards pulling their owner to a small
egg. One of the few Erianu had fussed about. The egg had stayed rather small
and no matter how she turned it, it never caught the light.
The girl, Gelena Erianu remembered, bowed down and softly touched the egg.
She let her fingers go all around it. But still the egg laid still. As if it
was waiting for something. The girl bowed down further, covering the egg
with her body, the lizards standing beside her.
Erianu couldn't be certain but somehow she had seen the quick black shadow
clinging to the girl. The girl smiled and waited for Erianu to nale her
hatchling before she carried the female of the beach.
"Sharayn." Erianu said, nodding about the great power in the name. This
daughter would need it.
A loud musical laugh suddenly sounded through the cave as the other red
headed girl, Marion, started running toward an egg. Her small foxes ran in
front of her. The big egg that was their goal had been carefully laid on a
bed of seaweed. The water softly curled around it. When the girl got close
enough it burst, revealing another two Atcydia's.
One was aqua, giving short musical chirps with it's low male voice while the
other, an orange female waited, listening to her brother. She looked around,
eyes glowing with delight at all she saw.
"Sage and Claren." Erianu said, indicating first the orange and then the
aqua.
At last only one girl remained. her hair was red-blond with very strange
highlights. She moved casually through the shells until she spotted the last
egg. The egg lay silent, neither wobbling nor cracking. This egg too waited,
like the girl had done. Checking out what was out there.
Suddenly however it made a decision and burst open.
The white that came out had a cunning air around him. He roared at the small
winged creature flying above him. The creature chirped back as if it was
insulted.
"Pagain." Erianu called her last son, wondering why she of all Atcydia's had
been chosen to hatch a white...
