Episode 1.03

Ginger Falls Public Beach

The water was splashing against the sandy shore as Eddie and Peter walked along the beach looking for a place to set up.

“So what can you tell me about this girl you’re dating?” Eddie asked his friend.

Peter tossed his towel and blanket down on the sand, “Eddie, I told you, when the time is right you’ll find out.”

“Come on man!” Eddie said as he began setting his stuff up, “What’s the big deal, or is it someone I know?”

“Its not someone you know.” He said as he looked out to the water and added in his mind, unless you know the morning weatherman on KGFT.

Eddie took out his sunscreen and started to apply it to his arms as he looked around to scope out the females on the beach when he saw one with dark hair, and dropped the bottle. “Holy Mocha!”

“What is it Eddie?” Peter asked when he looked where he his friends eyes were and his hand got caught in his hair, “Abigail.”

Jonathan sat nervously at his table, after last night he was starting to think maybe Ginger Falls had been the wrong place to go. Besides he couldn’t stay there that long now could he? Anyone he met would want to know about the book her written and well it didn’t exist.

The waiter arrived with his order and just as he was about to start his lonely meal when he saw Karen walk in with another man. A pang of jealousy took over him as he watched her talk with this man easily.

Karen saw him and waved as she and this other man were seated. Jonathan smiled and waved back before looking down at his salad.

“Who’s that?” Michael asked as he and Karen sat down and glanced at their menus. They knew what they would order; it was always the exact same thing when they came together.

“That’s Jonathan, I met him last night over at the bar. He’s a novelist from LA.” She said showing she was impressed with the stranger.

“You do know he’s staring at you, right?” Michael asked as he brought the water glass to his lips.

Karen giggled a little bit and looked down, “he is?”

“Yeah he is.” Jealousy rang through Michael’s voice as he sent a dirty look over to Jonathan.

Ginger Falls Shopping Center

“Come on Adams! You’re slowing me down!” Ricky called out as he entered the dollar store with his roommate following behind.

Ricky went straight for the set of cheap plates and grabbed several before grabbing several cups as well.

“Ricky, do we really need all of that?” Sam asked wondering if this was what hell was like.

“Yeah we do, trust me you don’t want to eat in the Union building. Well unless you like prison food.” Ricky said as he made his way to the check out area with Sam right behind him.

Once they were out of the store they started to walk to Ricky’s golf cart, as they were crossing into the parking lot Sam saw a brunette with long straight hair pull in. He lifted his sunglasses just a bit to get a clearer look because for a moment he could’ve sworn it was Pam.

“Adams! Come on beer boy.”

Carlotta held Kate’s cold hand as her and Legolas awaited the news of her condition.

“I’m worried Legolas…”

“I know you are.” He walked over to Carlotta and placed his hands on her shoulders, trying to comfort her. “Hey, come on now, we all know how determined Kate is. She’ll probably be walking out of here within the week causing us more problems at the opera. We’ve just got to believe in her…”

“I’d give anything just to put up with her rants again…” Carlotta spoke softly as the doctor entered the private hospital room. “Doctor, please tell me what’s wrong with her.”

“I’m sorry I haven’t brought better news.”

“What do you mean? What in God’s name is wrong with her?” Legolas demanded.

“Miss Harris suffered a sever concussion from her fall and she has… slipped into a coma.”

“What? But she’ll come out of it soon, won’t she?” Carlotta looked at the doctor and then to Legolas, “right?”

“There’s really no telling in these cases…”

“Oh Legolas…” She said through her tears.

Paula pressed her body up against Devon’s. “I’ve wanted to do this for months…” She pulled off his belt and began to unbutton his jeans as he fumbled with the buttons on her blouse.

He slid the blouse off of her shoulders. It fell to the floor. “Paula… are you sure?”

“Don’t be silly.” She said as she pulled down his jeans with one quick motion, exposing his scooby-doo boxers. She smirked and pressed up against him once more. “Make love to me, right here, right now.” She pulled him towards the black, leather couch.

He tripped on her blouse and they landed on the couch hard. She burst out into laughter. “God help you…” She grew serious and looked into his eyes.

“I…I love you Paula.”

She just smiled at him as she pressed her finger on his thick lips. “Shh…”

Pam sat on a blanket watching the waves move in and out from the ocean. She found herself mesmerized the sight in front of her, as she never really saw anything like this back in Pinõn Hallow, where the mountains surrounded her. She saw someone jogging towards her from the distance but turned back to look at the water and let the warm ray’s of sun greeted her pale skin.

“Afternoon Pam.” Called out a voice causing her to look up, for once it wasn’t Jeff.

“Hi Alex, how are you?” she asked as he slowed down.

“I’m doing well, how are you finding the island so far?” he asked as he sat down on the sand next to her.

Pam looked out to the ocean for a moment before answering, “Its very different so far. Though everyone I’ve met seems really nice. Like Jeff who lives across the street from me.”

Alex nodded, “He’s a good kid, raised by his aunt and uncle. His cousin is best friends with my daughter Karen.”

“Its always nice to have a best friend.” Pam said sadly as she thought about Sam and how much she missed him.

“Now Miss Pam, why do you look so sad?” Alex asked before touching her face and having her look at him.

“Nothing really, its just going to take a while not having my best friend around.”

Alex nodded, “Well anything I can do to help, just let me know.”

“Thanks.” She said suddenly feeling nervous being this close to Alex.

“No problem.” Alex said as his eyes locked on hers for a moment, before pushing her dark brown hair away from her eyes.

Pam smiled nervously before her impulses took over and she kissed Alex.

“I’ll be right back.” Peter said as he walked over to where Abigail was sitting and his shadow cast over her causing her to look up.

Her eyes widened with shock when she saw who it was. She jumped up and hugged him, “Peter!” she exclaimed. “How are you kiddo?”

He hugged her back, “I’m alright how are you?”

“Peachy except for having gotten dumped again.” She looked over and saw Eddie watching them, “You and Eddie are still close I see. Tell me how did he and you’re family take the news about you’re preference of men?”

Peter sucked in a deep breath through his teeth and his ex glared up at him, “I haven’t come out yet.”

Abigail rolled her eyes, “Peter, why not?”

“It hasn’t felt right. Actually I was kind of hoping you could help me with something. As soon as this is over I promise I’ll be out and I’ll set you up with a great guy.”

Abigail crossed her arms over her chest, “What do you want me to do?”

“Pretend we got back together so everyone will stop harassing me about meeting the girl I’m dating.” He said with puppy dog like eyes.

Abigail nodded and then smiled, “He better be a doctor.” She said before planting a long, hard kiss on him.

Michael broke his breadstick in half as he glared over at Jonathan again while Karen had gone to the restroom. His eyes had narrowed, as he wanted to make it clear that Karen was not up for grabs.

After several minutes of this Jonathan walked over to the table and just sat down, “Hi, I’m Jonathan Claremont, and you would be?”

“Michael Ballantyne, listen buster I don’t trust you and I think you should stay far away from Karen. She doesn’t need some playboy running her life again.” He explained.

Jonathan nodded, “I never imagined that Karen would be interested in seeing me again.” He said as he leaned forward on the table, “however, its up to her if she wishes to see me again.”

Michael shook his head, “if you hurt her, you’ll have to deal with me.”

“I’ll keep that in mind.” Jonathan said as he got up and then went and got his coat from his table and tossed down some cash before leaving.

Windsor Hall

Ricky and Sam entered their dorm room and started to put things away.

“Okay beer boy, why is it you always get freaked when you see a girl with long dark straight hair when were out?” Ricky asked.

Sam looked at his roommate; “I keep thinking I’m seeing this girl from back home. Pam was amazing. I was totally in love with her, hell I still am. I figured moving to Hawaii would help me forget all about her.”

“Dude, you just got here. I’m sure it’ll all fix itself. Besides classes start on Monday, and hey you’re going to apply for one of the job openings at the resort right? You’ll be so busy you won’t have time to think about this Pam chick.” Ricky said as he tossed some oranges to Sam.

As he caught them he nodded, “You’re probably right Ricky.”

Ginger Falls Medical Center

She wiped her tears and stood tall. “Come Legolas. I must announce her condition to everyone at the opera.” She opened the door and her eyes widened at the sight of the young man in front of her. “J-Julian…?”

Legolas groaned and turned around quickly. “Great…” He muttered.

“I came as soon as I heard.” He walked past her and stood in front of the bed. He covered his mouth with his hand. “Oh no…”

“Julian…” She approached him.

“Is she dead?”

“No… she’s in a coma.”

“W-What are we going to do?”

“We?” Legolas turned back around.

“I’m not sure. Actually, I have no idea…”

“Where’s Paula?”

She was taken back by his sudden change in subject. “At the opera I imagine.”

“I must go and see her.”

He watched as his rival darted out of the room. “Carlotta, this will not change anything will it?”

“Let’s go Legolas.”

Wild Falls Private Beach

Alex’s hands ran through Pam’s thick dark hair as he kissed her back, pulling her closer to him as they fell back on to the warm sand of the beach.

Her hands ran over his tank top covered chest as the kiss deepened. The ocean crashing against the shoreline and the sudden feeling of sand in her hair brought Pam to reality as she pulled away from Alex. “I am so sorry.” She said before getting up and grabbing her blanket before running off towards the bungalows.

They both panted out of breath. They lay on top of one another and stared into each other’s eyes.

“P-Paula. I’ve never felt this way before… ever… you’re…”

“Oh God…”

“What? What is it?” His toned to frantic.

“Whoa there chief. I think you’ve been around us opera people too long with those dramatics.”

He blushed a bright red.

“Devon, honey, you aren’t… weren’t… a, um… you know…” He looked at her with a blank expression. “A… vir… gin?” He blushed an even brighter red. If that was even possible she thought. He nodded. “Oh jeez…”

The door opened at Julian walked in. “Pau-- Oh shot.”

She knocked Devon off of her, who scurried to dress himself. “Julian?” She grabbed her blouse and wiggled into her skirt. “Julian.” She confirmed her own question.

He approached her slowly. “Paula, I’m…”

“I love you Julian.” Tears began to form in her eyes. “I’ve missed you. Why would you leave like that? Was it something I did? I’ve never been so miserable without you.”

“I’m sorry Paula. I should have never left.”

Devon watched as the couple embraced and kissed each other passionately. One single tear ran down his cheek and he grabbed his shirt and ran out of the room.

Ginger Falls Public Beach

Eddie watched his friend kissing Abigail and from where he was he let out a cat call, “Yeah, that’s how to do it Peter!” he called out, causing several people to look at him. “What? My best friend just got back together with the love of his life.”

Peter and Abigail stopped kissing and looked over at the scene Eddie had caused. “Are you sure you want to go through with this?” she asked as he leaned down.

“Yeah I am, look at him. It’ll kill him to find out I’m gay.” Peter said as he held onto her before nuzzling her neck.

“Remember the guy has to be hot, a doctor, and not Eddie.” She said before kissing him again to make the show real for Eddie.

Opera House Theatre

Her entire opera cast – minus Kate – stood in front of her on the stage. Waiting anxiously to hear what Kate’s condition was, what was to become of the opera, and most importantly who was going to be the new prima donna? “Cast, crew thank you for all coming on such short notice. First of all I would like to discuss Miss Harris’ current condition. The doctor told Legolas and I that Kate is currently in a coma.” There was a short gasp from some of the actresses. “However, it is very likely that she will come out of it. Until then we will all keep her in our thoughts and prayers. I would also like to tell you all that I do intend on keeping my opera open during the time Kate is away. You should be warned that we will most likely be receiving negative press for this. I am also pleased to announce that one of our veterans has returned to us, everyone please welcome back Julian Price” Most of the cast and crew turned and looked at Julian – who was holding Paula’s hand – some of the cast also noticed Devon at the other side of the stage, looking very upset.

“What’s wrong Devon?” His assistant asked.

“Nothing… I don’t want to talk about it. I just wish Carlotta would cut all the dramatics and name the new leading lady so we can all get the hell out of here.”

“Finally, I would like to announce who will be the new leading lady…”

Paula tightened her hold onto Julian’s hand.

“I think a congratulations is in order for Paula Winslow. This opera’s new prima donna.”

She jumped into Julian’s arms. “Yes!”

Various actors and technicians congratulated the excited soprano. No one noticed fresh tears form in young Devon’s eyes as he walked off the stage.
