Episode 1.08

47 Guava Circle

Karen rolled over as the morning sun came in through the blinds. She could feel the warmth of Jonathan’s body next to her. She could feel a blush rush onto her face.

She leaned up on her forearm’s and looked at the sleeping man beside her. She then crawled out of bed, and crouched on the floor, looking for an article of clothing. She found her bathrobe and then went into her office and locked the door.

Sitting down at the desk she opened the bottom drawer, taking out an envelope she saw a name written on it in big, black, bold letters. Chad Davis. She took out a picture of herself and Chad, tracing his image with her fingertips and looking at the man she had once considered the love of her life.

Letting out a longing sigh she turned on her paper shredder and began to feed the picture and other papers from the envelope in the machine.

53 Guava Circle

Michael rubbed his tired eyes as he walked into his kitchen and pressed start on the coffee maker. He saw the light blinking for voicemail messaged and groaned. Hitting the speaker button he then dialed into the system.

“Four new messages. Press P to play the first new message.” said the electronic voice.

Michael hit the 7 button and let the message play.

“Mike, its your father. Call me at the office. I need to talk to you about Monica and Lucas.”

Michael deleted the message and set the next one to play, “Mike its your father again, call me right away.”

Sighing Michael hung up the connection and poured a cup of coffee. As he mixed in the sugar and creamer someone began banging on the backdoor. He shook his half-awake head and opened the door. “Morning Dad.” His irritation with his father clearly present in his voice.

Bradley Ballantyne walked into his son’s kitchen. His hair was still dark and distinguished, and even more so with the hints of gray around the temples. He wore a fresh blue polo shirt and crisp khaki pants. “Morning Mike.”

“What’s with the sudden interest in Mon and Luc? Hell what’s the interest in me?” Michael leaned against the counter and took a long sip of his coffee.

Bradley shook his head, “Now you make it sound like I’ve never been around for you kids. Please Mike, have some sort of faith in me.”

Michael sighed deeply and loudly as he let his eyes drill into his father’s, “I am not giving up my job as an ADA to work for you at the Tribune.”

“Why not? I also wanted to ask you to play up the idea to Monica and Lucas that they intern for the paper this summer.” Bradley pleaded with his oldest child.

“Let me guess, offer Mon and Luc internships and then gosh they’ll come home for the summer rather then stay with Mom.”

“Exactly! Hey it got you home for the summers.” Bradley reminded.

“Dad, I’ve never left Hawaii, I’ve been off this island four times in my entire life. It’s hardly the same.”

“Well what do you suggest? I’m living a life that involves only working at the paper. Mike, this is a small town think of how sad a life that is. Not much happens here you should know. You are an ADA after all.”

“Dad, none of us seem to be interested in journalism. Find someone else to pass it on to. You’ve already lost me and Jeff, and it looks like Mon and Luc are more into theatre then the news.”

Penthouse—Ginger Sky Apartments

Eddie walked into the living room and saw Peter and Abigail kissing, “PDA’s people, for crying out loud!”

The pair broke apart and Abigail whispered, “great Eddie.” Into Peter’s ear, she was actually starting to think that maybe she could convince Peter that they should be more then just friends and he could forget his mysterious boyfriend.

Peter chuckled, “sorry Eddie, what can I say. I just can’t keep my hands off this woman.”

Eddie rolled his eyes before setting them on Abigail and for the first time noticing just how attractive she really was. Especially when she nervously ran her hands through her dark straight hair. Snap out of it Eddie, first you sleep with his mother. No sexual thoughts towards his fiancé!

“This is what he did yesterday! He keeps slipping into some weird dream world.” Abigail said to Peter before going into the kitchen.

Eddie walked over to his roommate, “Okay I know I wanted you to have a love life and all, but maybe Abigail just wasn’t the right girl. She’s kind of bitchy.”

Peter laughed, “Oh come on now Eddie, you’re just jealous.”

Eddie rolled his eyes; “Okay maybe I am, though to be honest it doesn’t seem like you spend that much time with her. It seems like you’re always running off somewhere and its not class.”

Peter stiffened as he looked at his friend, “My Mom has me running errands for her and I’m helping my dad out at the resort. That’s not even to mention Karen’s love life, or lack there of. I’ve gotten her three pints of Karmal Sutra ice cream this week already.”

Eddie nodded his head to say he understood, “And Abigail is alright with all this?”

“Yeah, I am.” Abigail said as she came into the room.

Peter nodded, “Are you okay now with all this Eddie?”

“Yeah, sure.” Eddie looked down at the ground before going into the kitchen.

Abigail looked down at her hands, “Wow, what are we going to do? He’s getting suspicious.”

Peter shrugged, “I really don’t know, what’s he going to do? Follow me when I go out and meet up with Max?”

“It is Eddie, he’s a suspicious fellow.” She reminded him as she cocked her head to the side and looked up at her faux fiancé.

KGFT—Max’s Office

Max was going over the latest information from all the screens when his cell phone rang. “Max Waterside.”

“Mr. Waterside, its Devon Spencer, Grace’s attorney she just wanted to let you know she’s living in Colorado now. Also to wish you luck on finding you’re younger brother.” Said the strong male voice on the other end of the line.

Max nodded, “Thank you Mr. Spencer, I’ll make sure her things are forwarded to there then.” He then hung up the phone and took out a picture of him and his younger brother Eddie when they were in grade school.

He then looked down at the phone numbers in his cell phone and clicked for it to dial Peter’s apartment.

“Hey you’ve reached Medical Students Peter Montgomery and Eddie Waterside, we’re not available to answer the phone right now so, well you know the drill and we’ll get back to you soon.” After listening to the message he took a deep breath, “Eddie, its you’re brother. Call me back at 777-555-KGFT, please.”
