SITE AUTHOR: Phil Agre, Department of Information studies at UCLA

DATE OF VISIT: Nov 10 1999

DESCRIPTION: The Network Observer (TNO) is a free on-line newsletter about networks and democracy. The site that plays host to a huge number of articles focusing on a variety of topics, ranging from how to navigate on the internet to politics and ethics of the technoogy and the internet for information. All of the aritcles are divided into sub groups accourding to general topic, along with some extra sections such as FAQ's and music.

EVALUATION: The overall layout of this site is extremely plain, with no extra's -being colour, graphics, etc.- to be found. The site itself is very easy to navigate, as the main page is the index form the entire site, making it a point and click type of setting. However, the lack of extra's takes away from the site, it appears that the effort to maintain and upgrade the site simply isn't there making it easy to skip over it in search for better material.
