Welcome
I am George Nikolidakis 40 years old father and I live in Athens , Greece. My primary job is technologist Engineer in Data Communication. I was attracted by astronomy since I was teen and the last few years I develop further this passion getting some equipment to be able for observations and deep sky astrophotography. Doing observation with telescope involves finding dark sites in predicted clear nights usually on mountains together with local group of amateur astronomers. Sometimes this requires a good knowledge of the night sky and depending on the equipment you have, to do plans of interesting objects . Star clusters , nebulas , galaxies , and planets of our solar system jumps out of eyepieces disclosing the beauty of night sky and our universe. Sometimes doing observation does not satisfy you enough and the reason is that we are daytime animals. Our vision is limited, so in case of faint and dark objects we usually can't see the amazing colored arms of distant galaxies, not even the wonderful complex structure and colors of nebulas. But what our eyes are unable to see, deep sky astrophotography and CCD imaging can. Photons coming from these objects are accumulated in the hypersensitive films surface writing the faint colors and their complex structures. Having successful astrophotos depends on how much the equipments can help you and my first equipment, an entry level telescope from Meade company model LX10 8", was not at all helpful . My second telescope, from the above company an LX200 12", helps me much better to this direction . I hope in the next months to be able to get some photos from this new scope and to do a better job than I did with the lx10 equipment. Visit again these pages to take any update available .
