If you are searching for high quality graphics and clip art for your Web page or artwork,
I am going to save you a lot of work and time.
This directory links to ONLY the BETTER very cool clip art, graphics
sites. You won't be wasting
time wading through tons of mediocre stuff and sham come-ons. With millions
of sites on the Web, nowadays a good artist has little chance of
getting noticed; and you would not likely stumble on some of these
sites by chance. You will find lots of treasures here.
The sites I list are not overloaded with commercials and pop up ads.
Many of them have stuff to purchase, but they give away lots
of graphics for free or in exchange for a link. A few very special
links are not for free stuff, but galleries of superb art
which are awesome to see as inspiration for your own work.
I AM STILL REBUILDING THIS LIST
I ran this graphics hotlist from 1992 to the year 2000;
and in the years 1997 to 2000 it received over 5 million
visitors. I have gotten so fed up with the commercials and gimmicks on certain other
directories, that after taking my own offline 2 years
ago, I decided to update it and put it back. No commercials,
no gimmicks--just links. Some sections have only a few links
now but there will be hundreds on this page soon.
I take pride in this page, so please notify me if there
are any broken links, or errors.
This site is VAST!! You can't see everything in one
visit; so bookmark it on your favorites list to find
it again.

Visit NIX, a web-based search engine that puts over 300,000 NASA online free
photos from the various NASA centers at your fingertips. Fantastic stuff; you learn
that NASA does a lot more than space travel. Lots of photos of science, life sciences,
medical research; aircraft, meteorology, people, oceans, exquisite machines,
technology, aircraft. Copyright-free.
FDR Library -- World War 11 era--
--about 600 medium resolution black anddd white photos
of the World War ll era; much subject matter not commonly
seen. Copyright free, public domain.
Cal-Photo--
47,000 beautiful photographs of California scenery, plants, flowers, fungi, landscapes,
people. These photographs can be used for non-California purposes; many pictures
could be of anywhere. Some mild copyright restrictions.
Coloring Black and White Images--
The simplest, easiest tutorial on the internet for
coloring black and white or grayscale photos and

Annes Adventures Gallery--An amazing gallery of image editing
techniques and effects; with tips, hints, and tutorials, graphics and
clip art.
The Plugin Site--Everything you ever wanted to know about Adobe
compatible filter plugins. This is a commercial site, but it has tons
of free resources; plugins, graphics tools, tutorials, galleries, and
much more.
Camouflage Filter--
Adobe compatible filter plugin for creating an endless
variety of seamless camouflage patterns--freeware.Create your
own camouflage graphic and clip art. Very cool!!
Simple Filters--
Easy to use filters for Photoshop, PSP and Adobe compatible programs.
These are mostly different tile, mirror, and kaliedoscope filters, which
are not easy to find. There's also a roll image one to check if a tile is seamless
and edit it. The author is modest, but these have plenty of potential.
For instance, if you duplicate the layer and apply the effect on the
layer; then try multiply or other adjustments to the layer, you can
get great artistic effects and clip art graphics.
Redfield Plugin Filters--
Adobe compatible filter-- Freeware Lattice Composer is wonderful
for texturizing, with highly customizable interface. Seamless
Workshop is better than others I have tried.
DC Filters--
A very large assortment of free Adobe-compatible filters plugins.
I have been experimenting with them and some are
really good; fun to play with and do serious work too.
Cybia Filters--
Eight sets of free Adobe compatible filters plugins, each containing 15 to 20
filters. I have tried several and these are professional-quality filters.
In the embossing set, the Soft Glass is the best embossing effect
I have ever used. Very cool!!
Tiem Design--Internet Eye Magazine--
A totally awesome tutorial site for all major programs--Photoshop, Paint
Shop Pro, CorelDraw, Photopaint, Illustrator, After Effects, Flash, 3-D
and more. Each tutorial is professionally presented in understandable
language; and lavish with
illustrations and screen shots. Super cool!!
Wintopo--
Converts raster graphics to vector. There's a simplified a freeware version
and an expensive professional version. I haven't tried it yet, and I
would like feedback on how well it works. ZDnet gave it 5 stars.
Nick Curtis Fonts--
A lovely collection of about 75 free original novelty
and retro fonts--for both mac and pc. With thousands of fonts
out there, it must be difficult to create distinctive new
fonts, but Nick does it. Very cool!!
Fonts for Kids--
Out of the zillions of freeware fonts on the internet,
this site has selected about 250 fonts which would be especially
appealing to kids, plus 40 cute dingbats. Many adults would
enjoy the fonts too.
Cool Archive Fonts--
An excellent font site; 900 free fonts with color previews.
Well designed, easy to navigate. Both mac and pc.
The Font Thing--
A fabulous font manager, and it's totally free. View fonts,
install or unstall with the click of a mouse. You can download
it from c/net by clicking the above link. (Hint: To install or
uninstall a font select the font and right click on it.)
Listemagerens Fonte--
Large collection of the most superb and complex
dingbat fonts in the world.
Listemagerens Fontarkiv--
This is an archive of older Listemagerens dingbat fonts which are not listed
on their page.
Scriptorium Fonts--
Some of the most unusual, beautiful, decorative,
and historic fonts anywhere. This is a commercial
site, but I know a secret. Nearly every category
and section has a free demo font to download. The
free demos are not easy to find; you have to look
carefully in the text at the bottom of the page.

Doc's Military & Patriotic Graphics--At my first glance at this page,
I felt rather ho-hum.
The images sort of sneak up on you at the bottom of the
first page, and I perked up. After viewing several pages,
tears started to come to my eyes and I could not stop--
I had to see them all. I ended up spending an hour looking
at 19 pages of images so beautiful and emotional I had to really restrain
myself to keep from sobbing. I wish everyone felt
the way Doc does about this wonderful country--Love it, kiss the
ground you walk upon, and hug a veteran today. Very cool!!

useful for people who want practical usage for their computer artwork.
