Message Board Topics
What should I discuss on the message boards?
There are two message boards associated with this web site.
On Evolution Discussion, you may talk about anything concerned with the science or history of evolutionary theory. This includes questions about the specifics of the theory and discussion of evidence for evolution, models such as punctuated equilibria, methods used in evolutionary biology, Darwin and his writings, etc.
On Evolution & Religion Discussion, you may talk about how evolutionary theory relates to religion and philosophy. This includes topics such as creationism (the biggie), the real or imagined conflict between religion and evolution, philosophical implications of evolution on human ethics, etc.
What messages are off-topic?
Discussion of creationism on Evolution Discussion is off-topic. Please use Evolution & Religion Discussion for creationism, as off-topic messages on either board will be deleted.
On either board, anything not related to evolutionary biology in some way will not be tolerated. First and foremost on this list are personal attacks and flames. Please keep all criticisms to the issues and refrain from criticizing personalities. Under no circumstances will personal attacks be permitted. Other off-topic subjects that will be deleted include advertisements and other spam. Obscenity is not allowed.
Can I discuss creationism?
You may discuss creationism on Evolution & Religion Discussion but not on Evolution Discussion.
Are the boards moderated?
The boards are read and monitored daily by the Moderator Robyn Conder Broyles. No approval is necessary to post a message, but the Moderator reserves the right to delete any message for any or no reason whatsoever.
Are messages ever edited or deleted?
As mentioned about, any message may be deleted at any time. In reality, very few messages are deleted, although it is known to happen. Messages are never changed after they are posted, as the message board software makes this impossible.
Can a user be banned from a board?
The message board software does not require a login, so users cannot be banned. However, in the past users have been asked not to post anymore. If a user continues to post after being asked to leave a board, that user's messages may be deleted without discretion.
