The FORT Homestead as "Colonial House"
[1957-1991]
"If you were in Poughkeepsie and
asked the Cabbie to take you to 'Colonial House',
he needed no further directions."
[A Miller Family Member to Ginny June 7, 2004]
The following images are the pages of a brochure, prepared by IBM during the time
the Millers occupied the Fort Homestead.
The brochure is undated and includes several
additional pictures of the interior.
It is four 8 1/2" X 11 pages,
three of the pages are shown here - the fourth page is blank
except for this quote by a man who would most likely
"shudder" at the current situation!
"As we make improvements, we should remember the fundamental things that we know are good, and weld the good of the old order and the good of the new order." Thomas J. Watson, IBM Founder [Wise Words that the Town of Poughkeepsie & Ginsburg Deveopment should heed.] |
[A special note of thanks to the Miller Family for providing me with this brochure &,
and gratitude for the care they gave this Historical Treasure during their occupancy 1957-1991
at which time the property reverted to IBM - a time when Watson Sr.
had already been released from his earthly bonds (1956)
and Jr. had long since relinquished the reins (1971) of this local corporate giant.]
The text in this brochure closely resembles the text in the IBM "Homestead" Brochure. For Clarity I will post in this column only the text describing the pictures. |
