Dutchess County Historian Update
February 23, 2005
According to information received from the County Executives Office Feb. 23, 2005 - The County has had pertinent issues that have taken more time than anticipated and they are not yet ready to move forward with matters regarding the Office of County Historian in February 2005. It also seems the County Legislature's Budget Reduction for the Department of History in 2005 has resulted in the County not being able to fill the position early in the year. I was assured that the Office of County Historian remains a priority but at this time all I can say is that ACTION Speaks LOUDER than WORDS. I will follow up with the County Executive's Office AGAIN after an appropriate period of time has elapsed. - See Feb. 23, 2005 E-Mail from the Assistant to the County Executive below - followed by Ginny's Feb. 18, 2005 e-mail which it was in reply to. |

Additionally, with the County Legislature's budgetary reduction in the amount available for the department in 2005, we simply cannot fill the position as early in the year as we would like. I assure you it remains a priority for us in 2005 and we will be in touch with you as appropriate. Thank you for your interest. Nancy E. On January 12, 2005 you wrote to me: "At this time we expect to begin discussing future plans for the County Historian in early February. At that time we will contact the appropriate constituencies to communicate and develop plans for this office. I will be back in touch with you at that time." Since it is now the latter part of February and I have not heard further from you, I felt it pertinent to make inquiry regarding same. Thank you in advance for a reply and for your service to our County. Virginia A. Buechele P O Box 243 Pleasant Valley, NY 12569 |
