Ingrid is only fourteen years old when she is torn away from all that is familiar including her dear friend, Sigrud. This, because her father had chosen to emigrate from Sweden to Canada in 1910 with his family. Ingrid is frightened at the prospect of having to learn a new language, coming to a strange new frontier land and she pines for her friend left behind. When settled in her new home, Ingrid, is pursued by two undesirable suitors, one is a shy clumsy man and the other a raucous ruffian. When Ingrid finally meets and marries the love of her life all seems well, but tragedy and disappointment still stalk her.

Ingrid is a touching spin-off story from Ginny dealing with the early years of the woman that will one-day be Ginny’s dearest friend. Like Ginny it has great appeal to young and old alike.
