Experience :  

* Currently working as Senior Research Fellow (SRF) at Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT), Cochin in a project funded by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi.

* Worked as Q.A. Manager (Earlier as QCM) in Phillips Foods India Pvt. Ltd., Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, India – a company specialized in Chilled Pasteurized Crab Meat in Cans, Vacuum Packed Frozen Fish Fillets, CO Smoked Tuna Steaks etc. – from July 4, 2002 to May 25, 2004. [Phillips Foods India Pvt. Ltd. is a subsidiary concern of Phillips Foods Inc. [USA] ]

- Responsibilities included Monitoring of Critical Control Points (CCPs - Seaming, Heat Processing etc.), Verification of Process/HACCP records, System Audits, Training and Over-all Quality of the finished product. 

- Reported directly to MD and Director, QA. & Director, Technical Operations.

* Worked as a Quality Control Technologist in a European Union (EU) approved, HACCP & GMP implemented seafood-processing plant in Kerala, India from September 2001 to July 3, 2002.

- Responsibilities included Online Quality Control, Organoleptic & Bacteriological analysis of the products (Like testing for Vibrio cholerae, Salmonella, Clostridium, Staphylococcus, E. coli & other Coliforms).

- Reported directly to CEO.

 

Other Relevant Skills & Achievements:

* Certified by the " Export Inspection Agency " (EIA), Government of India as a Quality Control Technologist.

* Experienced in Food Thermal Processing, Food Can Examination procedures like Visual Examination, Seam Teardown Evaluation etc.

* Experienced in the "Ellab" Thermal Validation system and F-Value calculator from "Ellab A/S", Denmark.

* Familiar with ELISA test using Histamine Test kits "Alert" and "Veratox" from Neogen & Chloramphenicol (CAP) test kit "Ridascreen" from R-Biopharm, Germany.

* Has undergone one month training in Tuna processing (Carbon Monoxide Smoked frozen Tuna Loins and Steaks), Fish Fillet processing etc. from Indonesian experts.

* Used to train/re-orient the work force in skills like Quarter Loining of Tuna (Yellow fin), CO Smoking of Tuna & Fish fillets for colour retention / enhancement, Fish Filleting, Crab meat picking, General QA - QC issues etc.

* Hands on experience in product development activities involving Seasoned, Battered & Breaded Products, ' Fish Fingers ', Crab Claw Fingers (Frozen, Ready to Fry), Frozen Grouper Strips, Vacuum Packed Pasteurized Crab Claw Fingers in Pouches (1 Lb Pack) & Pan Ready Pearl Spot.

* Experienced in various food products like - CO Smoked Tuna Steaks & Loins, Vacuum Packed Frozen Fish fillets (Grouper/Snapper - Natural Cut / Portions-Skin off, Pin Bone out), Chilled Pasteurized Crab Meat in Cans, Breaded & Battered products, Fish fingers, Yakitori Sticks, Skewer Sticks, Frozen Seer Fish / King Fish Steaks, Frozen Shrimps (Black Tiger, White- HLSO, PDTO, PD, PUD), Frozen Cephalopods (Whole, Whole Cleaned, Squid Tubes, Squid Rings ( Calamari ), Cuttle Fish / Squid Fillets, Cuttle Fish Roe), Frozen Baigai Snail, Frozen Blue Swimming Cut Crab (Crab portions) etc.

* Undergone two months training in “ Experimental Hatchery Production of Giant Fresh Water Prawn (Scampi ; Macrobrachium rosenbergii ) ” at Fresh Water Prawn Hatchery, School of Industrial Fisheries, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), India.

* Familiar with sustained culture of Artemia ( Brine Shrimp ), Chlorella etc.

* Two months in-plant training at M/s. Alapatt Marine Exports, Chandiroor, in Seafood processing where I could gain substantial experience on the diverse aspects of Raw Material purchase, Production, Quality Control, Marketing etc.

 

Academic qualifications :

1) M.Sc. Industrial Fisheries  -   First Class (68.3%) - from Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), India.

* Major subjects studied : Fish Processing Technology, Aquaculture, Fishing Technology, Canning, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Business Management, Economics.

2) B.Sc. Botany,   -   First Class (76.5%) - from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, India.

* Major subjects studied : Botany, Chemistry, Zoology.
