Daisy (Carpenter) Girard Calvin, 85, a 67-year resident of Hoquiam, died Friday, August 9, 1975, at a local nursing home.
She was born November 2, 1889, in Randolph, Kansas, and graduated from Concordia Norman and Business College in Concordia, Kansas. She moved to Hoquiam in 1908 and was secretary of the old National mill. She also owned and operated the Girard Rest Home in Hoquiam for over 20 years. She had been retired since 1955.
Mrs. Calvin belonged to the United Christian Church of Grays Harbor, the Alpine Rebecca Lodge of Hoquiam, the Central Park Grange, Jane Stuart's Tent No. 13 of the Daughters of Union Veterans, which she served as tent president and president of the Washington and Alaska department, and FOE Auxiliary No. 252 in Hoquiam, where she was a charter member.
Survivors include two sons, J. Megler Girard of Aberdeen and John Gerald Girard of Olympia; two daughters, Mrs. Hawtry (Leona) Williams and Mrs. Harold (Virginia) Wilson, both of Hoquiam; a sister, Mrs. Harriett McClary of Hoquiam, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
