The Girl Scout Sign:
You show the Girl Scout sign or salute by raising the three middle fingers on the right hand with the little finger held down by the thumb. This sign is used whenever Girl Scouts recite the Promise.
The Girl Scout Handshake:
Girl Scouts use the handshake as another form of greeting. Girls extend their left hand, denoting friendliness and loyalty, while they raise their right hand in the Girl Scout sign.
The Friendship Circle:
Girl Scouts often form a friendship circle in a meeting or at a campsite. Everyone stands in a circle, and each person crosses her right arm over her left, clasping hands with her friends on both sides. Each person is silent as a friendship squeeze is passed from hand to hand. The friendship circle stands for an unbroken chain of friendship with Girl Scouts and Girl Guides around the world.
The Girl Scout Motto:
"Be Prepared"
The Girl Scout Slogan: (in use since 1912)
"Do a good turn daily,"
