Former Kid Takes Lumps

Hell hath no fury like a Canadian comic -- if it's Scott Thompson.

But it was the former Kid In The Hall and current Larry Sanders Show co-star who took his lumps during a guest appearance Thursday at the Rivoli.
Thompson got ambushed on stage by The Newsroom's Mark Farrell, who was hosting the club's Laughingstock Sketch Comedy Festival.
"He plays a gay Canadian on TV?" Farrell said of Thompson, who, in real life, is a gay Canadian. "What range."
Thompson, for his part, may have been feeling sentimental returning to the Rivoli stage, where he first broke ground a decade ago with The Kids In The Hall.
Among other things, the outspoken and politically incorrect showman discussed the results of his recent test for HIV -- they were negative.
Thompson -- back home from L.A. for the Comedy Festival -- said after his set that he was impressed with the Laughingstock line-up, particularly the duo called Joe's Convenience.
Thompson has good comedy taste in bad taste. Certainly, Troupes Partial Malfunction, Loogie and The Riot Act rounded off the show with some gloriously tasteless satire.
Laughingstock concludes tonight, minus Thompson, with host Tim Rykert.
