According to reports in the North East, Middlesbrough are closing in on a £4,000,000 deal to sign unsettled Portsmouth star Landon Donovan. The USA international, who was a £3,750,000 capture from MLS side LA Galaxy, is said to be keen on a move to the Riverside Stadium, after struggling to break into the first team at Portsmouth. Boro' boss Graeme Souness is keen to bolster his squad who are struggling in D1 and the former Bayer Leverkusen schemer is at the top of his wishlist. Despite never being a first team regular, Donovan has struck four goals for the club, all those coming in S3 under Fabio Capello. |
