HORNETS LAND TURK ACE 19/07/08

Watford manager Luiz Felipe Scolari continued to bolster his ranks with the signing of Turkish ace Colin Kazim-Richards in a 6,100,000 deal from Fenerbahce. The midfielder, who can also operate as a striker, has had spells in England with both Sheffield United and Brighton among others.

"Its a great opportunity for me to play in the GI for Watford. They have a good manager who has worked hard in bringing me here, I'm ready to work hard and give my all for the club." Kazim-Richards said.

Several other clubs, including Portsmouth and Serie A side Palermo, were also in the running to sign the attacker but hes pleased with the move to Watford.

"It's an exciting time for the club. They have a new manager with new ideas who has been spending money, we're hoping for a good campaign."

BOOTHROYD WARNS PLAYERS 11/05/08
Watford manager Adrian Boothroyd has told all his squad members at the club that they are playing for their futures, after the team slipped to a disappointing 4-2 defeat against Blackburn. Boothroyd called an emergency meeting at the club on Sunday morning and delivered the harsh words to his players, including the likes of Miroslav Klose, Diego and Darren Bent.

"Boothroyd is not happy. He thinks there are some players that are not pulling their weight at the club and he wants rid. There are some big earners at the club that are not working hard enough and maybe relying on their reputation to get by. Boothroyd expects to bring them down a peg or two with this latest rant." A Vicarage Road source told the GI Express.
All is not well for Adrian Boothroyd.

GILBERTO EYES HORNETS MOVE 29/07/08
Brazilian midfielder Gilberto Silva has told Fulham manager Slaven Bilic that he wants to quit the club and join D1 side Watford. According to reports, Watford had looked set to land the former Arsenal star for around 5,000,000 but pulled out of the deal after they discovered Gilberto was carrying a slight knee injury. The player, now recovered, is eager to link up with the Hornets.

"My time here at Fulham has been disappointing and I need a new challenge. I'd very much like to join Watford, they play very good football." Gilberto told the GI Evening Standard.

"I have alot of friends there too, like Gilberto, Edmilson, Diego and Julio Cesar.  They also have Scolari as manager, so this move would be perfect for me and my GI career."
Gilberto won D2 with Everton in S4.
SCHALKE SNAP UP KITSON 11/01/09
Schalke have fended off interest from both Bolton Wanderers and Watford to land Dave Kitson, who was released from Reading at the start of the season. The shock signing was announced after Kitson agreed personal terms with the German club and passed a medical.

"It's a cracking opportunity for me. I'm here playing in one of the best leagues in the world with a massive club. It's a huge challenge, I can't wait to start playing football again." Kitson said.

"Obviously leaving Reading was a huge blow. To be told you're no longer wanted and that you have no job is terrible but fortunately I've landed on my feet. There was interest from several GI clubs but when I heard Schalke wanted me, I wanted to come here."
Kitson has moved to the Bundesliga.
