The crap Detriot style techno/house favoured in Glasgow was pissing him off, and the clubbers arrogance towards hardcore and rave in general made him want to start a better night.
He started RPM with two mates and a dealer/manager who was relentless in tryng to make the night bigger and better. Big James got us from The Captains Rest Basement to The Renfrew Ferry in a couple of months, where we played to about 400+ people. However, the golden days of RPM fell into the past as we started to loose huge amounts of money in ever more ambitious projects. Our 12 hour rave on May 1st turned out to be on a brilliantly sunny day when everyone was sun bathing in the park, unsurpringly few people wanted to come to a darkened room to listen to punk bands and techno (it was a good idea in February!). This was the genius that was RPM but we carry on to do house paries and various nights accross Scotland.
Trenchcoat Maffia was started by Serge and Borg from Maddog. We haven't yet done many gigs,preoccupied with other commitments. Our joint night with Eruptor in Edinburgh was our most recent venture, and was brilliant, mostly due to Eruptors up-for-it crowd.
Now working with Glacid to build a Glasgow base UK techno night with a big 'fuck you' to minimalist tech-house.
