After graduating from Medical school, he interned as a surgeon at Kings County Hospital, New York City, N.Y. U.S.A. He went into private practice as a physician/surgeon working out of his residence in the upper class Park Avenue area of Manhattan.

He enlisted during the Korean War serving with distinction as an officer. Following his discharge he took a leave from his medical practice and hired out as a mercenary for what ever country paid the most money, banking it for a nice large nest egg.

He's now looking to settle back down and resume his medical practice. With his house up for sale, and all his belongings and medical needs packed and boxed he's ready to go. Having received a phone call from his long time friend Alex Farber, Administrator of the Mojave General Hospital, in Mojave, California, offering him the position as it's Chief Resident - he decided this was a move he could not turn down.

He has his weapons oiled and cleaned, Kelly still hunts wild game. He has his 30.06 Remington ADL with 4X scope that he hunts with - a .45 calibar automatic pistol - his AK-47 Russian Assault Rifle(sub-machine gun) - and his machete from his days in Korea and his mercenary treks around the world.

Rachel worked as a receptionist for John Kelly as a teenager when he had his Park Avenue practice.

While Kelly was off to Korea and his country hopping as a mercenary afterwards, he paid for her education as a Registered Nurse. She took up residence also at Kings County Hospital. All the while keeping in touch when they could, by mail and phone calls. Her husband died young in an accident, and she never remarried.

Rachel has decided she will move on with Kelly to Mojave - she has always loved him but their relationship is not one of boyfriend girlfriend but of love and mutual respect. Although they do date off and on, and she has slept with him they still go their seperate ways.
