A third successive defeat sees Glanraeth’s chance of retaining the League Title slipping away.
There were few signs of what was to come during an impressive first forty five minutes which saw the visitors take the lead then restrict the free scoring Prestatyn attack to a handful of chances.
The first real goal threat came on 12 minutes as keeper Dave Ball saved well with his feet from the prolific Steve Bowes but two minutes later it was Glan that took the lead through Craig Roberts as the striker took possession of a pass from Kevin Roberts before smashing the ball past home keeper John Dunt.
Dave Ball made another good save from Bowes on the quarter hour mark but Glantraeth were defending well and looked comfortably in control with Richard Owen coming closest to adding another on 28 minutes with a glancing header following a perfectly flighted cross from Richard F Owen.
Steve Harris struck the outside of a post seven minutes later and Gary Thomas missed a great opportunity for the home side two minutes before the break after a slip by Richard F Owen had left him clear but he pulled his shot wide.
Within four minutes of the restart Prestatyn were back on terms with a good finish from Neil Gibson and David Hayes put the home side ahead on the hour mark, meeting a left wing corner with a header that crept just inside a post.
The Bastion Road side were now well on top and it took three top draw saves from Dave Ball in a five minute spell from Bowes and Thomas to prevent Glan falling further behind.
As the game entered it’s final twenty minutes Glantraeth began to regain a greater share of possession without really looking threatening, shots from Richard F Owen and Paul Rowlands that didn’t trouble the keeper being the only efforts of note.
Prestatyn sowed up the three points with two minutes remaining as Bowes took advantage of a bad mistake by Martin Bohana to round Ball and clip the ball into the empty net and it was Bowes again in the 90th minutes adding to Glan’s misery with a shot from 20 yards that skidded off the turf and fairly zoomed into the net.
Glantraeth: Dave Ball, Emyr Rowlands, Darren Jones (Martin Bohana 75), Warren Gibbs, Carl Thomas, Nigel Barry, Rob Williams, Richard F Owen, Richard Owen, Kevin Roberts (Gareth Owen 75), Craig Roberts (Paul Rowlands 35).
