Glantraeth 5 Llandyrnog United 3
Report by Jeff Scott

If its goals you are looking for look no further than Glantraeth's Bodorgan ground where its raining them at the moment. Both teams combined to set up this goal feast and for the Glantraeth faithful its full value for their admission money. Last week it was 6-3, this week 5-3 Seventeen goals in total in two games, no boring nil-nil draws here then.

The first real threat came from Daniel Jones who put two good chances over the bar before Paul Rowlands, Glantraeth's capture from Bodedern at the beginning of the season, did likewise. It was a well worked move that eventually opened up the stubborn Llandyrnog defence as Richard. F. Owen's cross was headed across the face of goal by Warren Gibbs and Kevin Roberts Roberts flicked header found the top corner of the goal out of reach of Arwel Hughes in Llandyrnogs goal.

Glantraeth almost increased the lead on 28 Min's as a Kevin Roberts was cleared after confusion in Llandyrnog's eighteen yard area. The home side did go further ahead after yet another telling ball from Richard F.Owen to namesake Richard Owen who whipped a cross into the box where Kevin Roberts was unmarked and able to tap in from close range for his second goal of the game. Pressing to get back into the game Llandyrnog's Dave Ross Williams tried his luck but was wide of the post. Then the Bodorgan boys went further ahead as Llandyrnog were taken by surprise as Paul Rowlands hit a long distance shot that skidded off the wet surface and past the keeper to make it 3-0. Dave Williams then shot wildly over the bar.

Glantraeth then had a lapse in their concentration as Llandyrnog pulled a goal back after the ball was initially parried by Dave Ball it fell to Mark Roberts who pulled one back for the visitors. A minute later Llandyrnog made it 3-2 as the ball deflected off Adrian Jurkowski past Ball in Glantraeth's goal. With half time approaching Warren Gibbs had a header straight at the keeper, and Nigel Barry's well taken free kick forced the keeper to tip over the bar for a corner from which Richard F Owen hit a good effort over the bar.

Within a couple of minutes of the restart Llandyrnog were on level terms as Mark Roberts found himself unmarked at a free kick and headed into the top corner past Dave Ball. Warren Gibbs then had another header go over following a Nigel Barry free kick as Glantraeth tried to get back into the game. A game at which they were coasting at 3-0 up and now found themselves level at 3-3. In the 64Th minute they did just that, good build up play involving several players led to Paul Rowland cross picking out Richard Owen and his looping header hit the back of the net 4-3. Richard Owen then became provider as a cross to Rowlands saw him hit a good shot the keeper did well to save. On 79 Min's Richard Owen claimed his second goal a good shot following a Paul Rowlands cross. In the final minutes Richard F.Owen saw his downward header bounce over the crossbar and a tremendous shot blocked following a crosses from who else but danger man Paul Rowlands.

A hard earned three points in the end for never say die Glantraeth, We now visit Llandyrnog next Saturday in the League, could there be another goal feast watch this space.
