To bring about an age of Sanity and Reason on our mother planet, and to provide a World, Worth While, for All Humanity.
Do you want to live in a Free, Sustainable World of Abundance?
A World where poverty is non existent, free of the threat and waste of war, dangerous pollution and extreme waste?
A World without leaders, where each will have an equal say with direct democratic organisation?
Our aim is to persuade others to become socialist and act for themselves, organising democratically, and without leaders, to bring about the kind of society which we advocate in our literature and at our meetings. WHAT WE DO We use every possible opportunity to make new socialists. We publish literature including the SOCIALIST STANDARD, (to replace global capitalism),we are linked with like minded socialists in other parts of the world.Socialist literature is available in Arabic,Bengali,Dutch,Esperanto,French,German,Italian,Polish,Spanish,Swedish and Turkish as well as English.
We are solely concerned with building up a movement of socialists for socialism. We are not a reformist party with a programme of policies to patch up capitalism.
We hold meetings and debates throughout the country;we write to the press and state our case wherever possible on phone-ins,we run weekend educational conferences, sell tapes and pamphlets, hand out leaflets at meetings and demos run by others,we stick up posters and talk to fellow workers wherever we can, including trade unions, tenants associations and other bodies, such as student clubs.we ,of course, contest elections in order to make ourselves known to an ever broader number of people.
As we say that socialism can only be established globally
THE NEXT STEP
The more of you who join the Socialist Party the more we will be able to get our ideas across, the more experiences we are able to draw on ,and greater will be the new ideas for building the movement which you will be able to bring to us.
The Socialist Party
is an organisation of equals. There is no leader and there are no followers. So if you are going to join we want you to be fully sure that you agree with what we stand for and we are satisfied that you understand the case for socialism
The "Glasgow Branch Socialist Discussion Group" started in response to a demand for regular informal discussion meetings, as well as, our usual Debates and Lecture meetings, which Glasgow Branch have provided since 1922, when the Branch was formed. It is open,as all of our meetings are, to anyone who wants to come along, whether it is to question, reflect, discuss, debate or merely listen.
We meet every first and third Wednesday, during the summer months as our discussion group is in a short break, but when this is on, the third Wednesday is used for it. 8.00 to 10.00 prompt. Maryhill Community Centre,Maryhill Road, Glasgow. Ask at reception what room we meet in (not always the same room). We really would love to see you there!
