Tigers 6 - Dundee 53

Quarter 1 2 3 4 Final
Glasgow 0 0 6 0 6
WCT 13 21 13 6 53

In their first meeting this season, with a place in the Division 2 playoffs at stake, it was the Dundee Hurricanes who came out on top.

A small Tigers squad took the field and held the Hurricanes for most of the first quarter until Dundee QB Mark Smith’s scrambled runs on successive plays opened the scoring.
The ensuing kick made it 7-0.

As the Tigers tried to reply, they turned the ball over two offensive plays later when an interception by the Dundee Safety led to a short field for the Hurricanes and another rushing score as the quarter ended.

In the 2nd quarter Dundee took a hold of the game and increased their lead to 20 - 0 with another Mark Smith
TD run and kick conversion.

The next Tigers Offensive drive was making yards until an interception gave the Hurricanes the ball at midfield. Smith then passed to wideout Thompson, who eluded the Tigers defence and took the ball into the endzone. The extra point kick made it 27- 0.

Things got even worse for the Tigers when they turned the ball over again and Dundee took full advantage with another rushing TD and kick conversion to leave the score at
34 - 0 at the half.

As the 3rd quarter began the Hurricanes returner Thompson took the kick off all the way back for a 40 - 0 lead.
Dundee’s defence then gave away some needless penalty’s and the Tigers Offence finally began to move the ball and Iain “Sparky” Dick ( with 213yards from 11 carries) ran for 63 yards and then took the ball into the endzone from 18 yards for his first senior TD.

The next kick off return by Dundee resulted in a Hurricane’s second special teams score. The successful kick made it 46-6.

The 4th quarter had a 60+ yard drive by the Tigers Offence which included a McLauchlan 13 yard pass to Graeme Clee in between “Sparky” runs of 20 and 35 yards, however it ended when Dundee picked off their 4th interception of the day in their own end zone. The Hurricanes completed the days scoring on a long drive when another rushing TD made it 53 – 6 at the final whistle.
