ABCs of Becoming a
Great Wrestler:
Attitude: its not
whether you win that’s important .. its
how you win. Its
not whether you lose its how you lose.
Wrestle to win not wrestle not to lose.
Belief: Believe
that every time you step on the mat you are destined to win. If you are down going into the third period
always believe you can outwork the opponent and scramble back into it.
Composure: Keep
your cool and concentrate on the next move not the last one. Don’t lose concentration on what you need to
do to improve your position during all phases of the match. Losing composure will result in you not
achieving 100% of your “goal” or potential.
Determination: Never
give up and never stop scrambling until time runs out.
Effort: Give
yourself the best chances for success by always working hard in practice and in
matches. You can never say you lost if
you gave it 100% effort.
Focus: Concentrate your “efforts” on improving yourself every
time you train. Focus on your weaknesses
and make them your strengths.
Goals: Set short
and long term goals, achieve them, reset goals, and
repeat.
Heart: A wrestler
with heart will always have that ability to give 100%. If you do not wrestle with heart you will
always walk away, win or lose, feeling like you didn’t leave it all out there
on the mat.
Intensity: Wrestle every time like it will be your last
match. A wrestler who wrestles with
intensity, heart and determination will always reach 100% of his potential.
