This club is open to any wrestler that is willing to commit him/herself to a little off season training. You just need to be prepared to establish a disciplined schedule and follow it. The sooner you start the better. What are my Goals: Each wrestler can set their own goal. Some may shoot for 5,000 push-ups by the start of winter practice. Some may want to prepare themselves for induction into the Century Club hall of fame. Century Club inductions will be celebrated in November. How do I achieve the Goal: Century Club: Start doing push-ups everyday. Start with 20 week one and each week add 1 more push-up to your last weeks total. So week 2 on the grid build up to 21 in a row several times a week; week three 22; and by week 30 you will be doing 50 push-ups in a row at will. You will be able to join the Century Club if you can do 100 push-ups in 4 minutes (with short breaks in between to shake it out). 5,000 Push-up Challenge: If you want to clear 5,000 push-ups by the start of next season you only need to do 25 push-ups a day or about 175 push-ups per week. Its that easy and you can do it while watching TV or before going to bed. If you slip behind just add a few more to your total each week. Double Wammy Club: Prepare yourself for the Century Club and make sure you keep up a pace of 175 per week and you will accomplish this goal and your goal of landing 5,000 push-ups. Its double the pride. How do I keep track: Attached is a weekly grid. If your goal is to meet the 5,000 Push-up Challenge you just add your total push-ups for the day and make sure you are on track by adding up the weekly totals. The grid may also be used to track your progress in reaching the Century Club as the progress points are indicated on the grid. The Test: The first week or two of practice we will be testing any wrestler who wants to try joining their elite teammates in the Century Club. 5 minutes before practice starts will be set aside time for the testing and club membership certification. What happens if I achieve the goal: Other than feeling a sense of pride there will be a Century Club induction ceremony at the beginning of next years practice. Tee-shirts will be made for club members to symbolize your achievement. Champions are not born they are made. Off season hard work will set you apart from the rest of the pack.
