We are having good winter weather today, not much to remind us that spring is near do we see today. We have not had a sever cold winter though some days in January remind me strongly of the day you came to Whitewater a boy and returned "a married man." I have done little besides taking care of our boy, this winter. The care of him has not been a burden, because I love him so much, yet I have thought sometimes I would like to have Levi help me take care of him, when he was restless nights and they seem so long and lonely to me. The little fellow's teeth are troubling him I think.
With that exception I think he is well. My own health is improving. I have been away form home but a little, in fact have made but two visits since I came her, one was at Mrs. Vilas. Her daughters are both married. Anna was married last November to Onley Ranny of Beaver. Mary was married to Lieut. N.N. Case on the 22nd of Feb. Case was home on furlough, but has returned to his regiment. I was glad to learn you were in so 'good quarters', hope you will stay there until the war is over.
I hope you will have opportunity for writing often. I can feel more cheerful if I hear form you, Dear Levi. I wrote you the 11th of Feb. (I think it was) and sent you five dollars. I will send five dollars in this. I will leave writing for Master Eddie is calling loudly for his Mama and his Aunt Jane can't keep him quiet.
Mrs. Cornelia does not go into company much, you may guess the reason. Father and Mother are enjoying their usual health (about the same as when you went away).
I am glad to hear that you heard from Mother. I owe her a letter and cannot blame her if she waits until I write her. I have written one letter to Edwin since I came here. That is all I have written except to you. Edwin's address is Edwin S. Metcalf 8th U.S.C. Art. (Heavy) Paducah, Kentucky.
Hoping to hear from you soon I remain your affectionate wife,
Ursula W. Emery.
