May 18th left Duvall's Bluff for this place, arriving this P.M. Batesville is a pretty place, water excellent. Situation on an elevation, the houses nestled among shade trees. Considerable bluffs in the distance remind me of Old Minnesota. The country passed through today and yesterday, and this place in my opinion is decidedly the redeeming feature of 'Rakensock.' We are in the courthouse, i.e. our company and some others.
