Section 1 Two Great Dynasties in China

1. Tang Dynasty

The Tang Dynasty was headed by Tang Taizong and Tang rulers. They promoted foreign trade. It lasted for 300 years (618- 907). It was located in the Northern lands of China, and over Korea. The Tang Dynasty was important because it expanded the empire and strengthened the central government.

2. Song Dynasty

Song Taizu ruled over the Song Dynasty. He tried to by peace, established a grand new capital at Hangzhou, made important technological advances. It lasted from 960-1279. It was located in China, ( central Asia). It was important because it was the most popular country in the world.

3. Innovations and Prosperities

Artisans, scholars, farmers, merchants, and artists were a part of these projects. It was an advancement in Tang and Song Dynasties. It lasted from 1618-1289. It was located in central Asia. Innovations and Prosperities were impotant because it helped China grew intensely in population and trade.

4. Chinese Society Changes

Managers, professionals, and skilled merchants were a part of these changes. These changes were a civil service. It lasted through the Tang and Song Era. It was important because the social, economic, and technology transformations of the Tang and Song period permentaly shaped Chinese civilization.

 

Section 2- The Mongol Conquests

5.Nomads of The Asian Steppe

Pastoralists and Asian nomads were of this steppe. They were nomads from the Asian steppe. It lasted through the Song Era. They were from the Eurasian steppe. They were important because their civilizations set the basis for later civilizations.

6. Rise of Mongols

Temujin and Genghis Khan were rulers of these Mongols. Temujin was the person who unified the clans, and Khan was the "universal ruler" of the Mongol clans. They were located in China. The Rise of Mongols were from 1206 and 20 years afterwards. The Mongols were important because they inspired spread ahead of their armies, which led many towns to surrender with out a fight.

7. Mongol Empire

Ogadai, the Great Khan, was the ruler of this empire at this time. He and others were groups of Khanates, each ruled by descendant of Genghis. This empire was started in 1227. It was located in territory from China to Poland. It was important because the Mongols created the largest unified land empire in history.

Section 3- Empire of Great Khan

8. Kublai Kahn and China

Kublai Khan was the first foriegner to ever rule the whole country. He ruled from . The rule was located in China. It was important because the rule reunited China for the first time in 300 years.

9. Mongols in China

The Mongols were the people that were in China at this time.They were a small amount of people compared to the Chinese. This time period was in the 1200's. The place the Mongols were established now was China. They were important because they tried to come to China and change their way of doing things.

10.Mongols Rule China

The Mongols were in rule in China. They ruled apart from the Chinese and obeyed diffrent laws. They also kept the Chinese out of high government. This took place in Western Asia around 1275. It was important because their rule was diffrent from the Chinese and that shook things up a bit.

11. End of Mongol Rule

Kublai Khan's death practically ended Mongol rule. It ended in 1294. The end of the Mongol rule was located in China. The End of the Mongol Rule was impotant because it affected civilizations from eastern Europe to China.

Section 4- Fedual Powers in Japan

12. Growth of Japanese Civilization

Yamato Clan was a head of these civilizations. They were decesdants from the sun goddess Amaterasu. The time was A.D.300. It was located in Japan ( Hokkaide, Honshu, Skikoku, Kyushu). The groeth of Japan was important because this dual structure became an enduring characteristic of Japanese government.

13. Japanese Adopt Chinese Cultures

Koreans were the people who brought the cultures. They were travelers from China. The time was A.D. 500 and 200 years after. The place where the Japanese adopted these ideas was Japan. It was important because it helped Japan to suit their needs.

14. Heian Period Society

Noble families and the imperial court were the people of the Heian period. They were the upper class of people and the government. This time period was 794 to 1185. The location was Heian. It was important because it experienced a lot of culture and artistic ways.

15. Feudalism erodes Imperial Authority

Samurai, Kamakura SHoguns were the people a part of this. They were bodyguards of local warriors; supreme generals of the emperor's army. The time was during the late 1100's.The place is that this feudalism occured is Kamakura. It was important because because feudal Japan no longer courted contact with China, ir would continue to absorb Chinese ideas and shape them into the Japanese way.

 

Section 5 Kingdom of Southeast and Korea

16. Kingdoms of Southeast Asia

Hindu and Buddhist missionaries and Khmer rulers were a part of the Kingdom of Southeast and Korea. The Khmer Empire was what they were a part of. The kingdom lied between the Indian and Pacific Ocean( stretches from Asia almost to Australia) . This kingdom was around about 1200. It was important because this kingdom expanded mainland, which helped its economy.

17. Korean Dynasties

Wang Kon founde this dynasty. He was the king of the dynasty and named it Koryu. The dynasty was located in Korea( on a peninsula that juts out of the Asian mainland toward Japan. The time this dynasty flourished was 935 to 1392. It was important because the Koryu period produced great achievements in Korean culture.
