Fruit Still Life, April 2007

Liz Weir came to our school and she asked us to tell her scary stories from around the Glens that she had not heard already. My uncle told me this story.

The Man With the Wooden Leg

One stormy night a man with a wooden leg came on a bike to my granny and granda’s house. He asked if he could put up his tent in a cow shed. But granny said it is too cold outside I’ll get you some rugs to sleep in the low room. He got some thing to eat in the night and in the morning again. He left very early in the morning on his bike. When morning came granda went to see the calf that was born that night and it was dead with two marks in its stomach like a vampire bite. When my granny went in she found a wooden leg. My uncle says its up in my attic.
