The Senate No. 1: First Session of The SenateThe Senate No. 1 (20/OCT/1984): When the other folks were writing, we watched and thought we could be of some assistance. We are a group of personalities who prefer to raise the stream of consciousness in certain ways we believe to be beneficial. [The "other folks" here refers to Granger and The Starters, included in The Longer Journey]. We form a certain consensus of our opinions before we begin to write. What is presented here has been considered and accepted as valid by this group before writing. Because we've been around so long, we could be called a Senate. There is an opinion in the earth that the Senate is a dead political body. We could comply with that concept in physical terms. We are, however, very alive and active in our own dimension of reality. It is essential, we believe, that you grasp the idea of consciousness as being multidimensional. We observe and relate to certain of these dimensions. We do not at all relate to others, not that they are not worthy, but just because we do not have the capacity to be all things in all dimensions. Do not suppose that life comes out of a dead universe. You are a vital part of a living consciousness that flows through regions far beyond physical structures. Even physical structures are not dead, and are, indeed, capable of responding to impulse and energy of a living nature. You do not need to comprehend that for useful living in the physical dimension, but it is good to get the feeling of these interrelationships. We will begin a series of articles that will discuss, explain and, we hope, clarify for you some of the conditions common to the needs of people who try to achieve higher levels of life while in the physical plane. Perhaps the most complex idea we need to encounter while in physical life is an understanding of non-physical reality. Without an understanding of non-physical reality we have little hope of comprehending the real and extended nature of life in its various aspects. We need to get clear the idea that there can be intelligence without a physical brain. You already have written notes about the mind as versus the brain. [See: The Longer Journey.] The mind is an all-encompassing, non-physical structure that extends into vast dimensions of reality. It interrelates with other minds that are tuned into the same vibrations of energy. Yes, like does seek out and attract like. This, you see, is the reason you need to follow the flow of your stream of energy and consciousness. If you get too hung out on other streams of energy and patterns of thinking and emotions, your own stream of consciousness tends to dry out, and its flow of energy stops. Your life then no longer runs along in the nice easy channel it was intended to run in. You become confused and frustrated with your life and its obvious lack of progress. In summary, physical structures are not dead things at all. And the intellect operates with excellence beyond the useful life of the physical brain and the body. Get the idea of your intellect operating outside the brain and far beyond the physical body. Anyone who has an imagination and can watch it at work should get the idea. Your objective should be to practice use of the intellect beyond physical limitations. Also, the intellect works beyond physical time. If you wish for certain conditions to enter your reality, begin to carry out thought processes as if this set of conditions did, in fact, exist. Play a role if necessary, but see the condition as a reality in your mind. Trust the mind to bring the condition into physical reality. The mind has, and exercises, vast energy far beyond the physical brain. It is difficult to follow this practice, or pattern, because you have said, "scientifically, it is impossible." It is, indeed, almost impossible to make constructive use of a facility you believe not to exist. You could not dig a ditch with a shovel that you said - and believed - did not exist. |
