• Retrieving

Retrieving is a training matter. A well-trained German Longhair will retrieve any downed game from water, from fields, from forest, or from thorny cover.

The following requirements are demandet of these dogs:

• retrieval of furred game after following a winding scent trail of over 300 m.

 
• retrieval of feathered game after follwing a winding scent trail of over 200 m.

• retrieval of unseen game at the command of the hunter.

• retrieval from deep water

• retrieval of a fox (trail laid with a drag over obsticles such as ditches, fences, etc.)
• retrieval of a fox in the forest (minimum of 300 m from hunter)
