W.W.II equipment can usually be identified by the khaki color of the webbing, and the fact that almost everything made during the war is dated. Look for the date of manufacture and you'll always know. During the war, the US switched from khaki colored webbing to the olive drab (O/D) or dark green around 1943-44. One can find both colors of webbing manufactured in the same year, and sometimes with both colors on the same piece. These items are usually referred to as "transitional" pieces. You will always want the khaki-colored web gear.
