Once again, Park Baptist Church and Missions is out to show its true color. For years, PBCM has been mightily used by the Lord as an instrument to spread the gospel to as many people as possible. Soul winning has always been a major thrust of our church and that is how the Park Family has grown into the number of churches that comprise it.

Why is soul winning so important to PBCM? First and foremost, because it is one of the reasons why this church, and any other genuine church of Christ, exists. Remember that the Great Commission was given to the church that Christ founded and Park should live up to the standard that the Lord has set.

The task of winning lost souls back to the Lord's flock was not given to kings and queens. They are the kind of people who have so little time for lesser mortals, much less for sinners like you and me. They say their shoes are too expensive to be stepped on the muck where the sinners are found.

The task is not given to presidents and prime ministers either. More often, they prefer to use diplomacy and sweet talking to gain the sinners' interest, adeptly hiding real issues of life and death and the damnation of souls behind sugar coated words like, "Smile, God loves you...". They rely more on promises than on the magnificent power of God's electing grace and forgiveness.

It surely was not given to just anybody. For serving the Lord in this field is not an ordinary endeavor. In fact, it's an opportunity made golden by its many fruits and blessings. It is a privelege made special because it is afforded to only a few. It is a kind of labor made worthy by its many rewards, an ultimate service because it is done out and with love.

The Lord could have given it to a great intellectual (who prefers to call himself a theologian). But alas, he thought he could make a sinner understand by argumentative techniques and logical play of words. He usually ends up alienating the prospect or worse, angering him.

The Lord could have given it to the professionals (who prefer to call themselves yuppies). They may do the job, somehow. But pity the soul of the poor slum dweller for his lowly shanty hidden behind a mound of garbage is beyond their reach.

Rather the Lord gave the task to the simple, blood-washed and soul-loving Christian who prefers to go where the Master leadeth. He is the one who does not follow his nose and plunges right into the filth and mud where the sinners are found. He may have been a king before, or a president. But later maybe made simple and humble upon knowing his sinfulness and slavery to sin.

Soul winning was given to Park too. It had been said before but it's worth repeating: This church could only be what its members allow it to be. Once again, let us separate ourselves from the kings and queens, from the presidents and politicians and be simple soul-loving Christians.

On our appointment dates, let's go and disturb heaven. Let us win souls and grab the headlines there.
