I Seek You
I stayed up til 5am
talking to faceless people.
They told me of their worlds,
their lives,
their loves.
I stayed up til 5am
feeling at ease with myself.
Nobody to see me,
or judge me on the clothes I wear.
Nobody knows my secrets
except the select few -
they know private things
but they don't know me.
I can hide my bulk on here,
no-one can see me cry.
I lean on invisible shoulders
and they lean on mine.
A few I meet, not many.
Some are friends,
most I will never speak to again.
Our lives are not richer for having met.
I make friends,
talk dirty
talk sweet and make people smile.
I am the GlitterGirl - people love me.
You
Happiness bubbles up inside me
Needing to burst out
The world must see
I have something to say!
My eyes must be sparkling,
My lips twitching
With unspoken syllables
There's a spring in my step
As if the surface I walk on
Is not bitumen, but
A jumping castle full of air
Bouyant is how I feel
When I'm with you.
My Family
Bitter words
Anger pouring out
In a filthy stream
Of obscenity
Instant regrets
No apologies
No reprieve
Tears, Hurt.
Jessie
Jessie was amused at how things had turned out.
Single all her life
Never dependent on others
Never needing help
Never wanting it.
Jessie woke up now and lay there, waiting.
Single bed, just like the old days
7am, they were already working
7am, the showers were running
7am, “Jessie, wake up – it’s time for breakfast, love”.
Jessie couldn’t see very far any more.
Single vision lenses, she wore
Nurse helped her out of bed
Nurse helped her shower
Nurse made her food, her drink.
Jessie cried at how things had turned out.
