I never before walked a road
So lonely
So desolate with despair
The land for as far as I could see was
Cracked and lifeless
It’s heart torn out
And yet I continued
I had to
Kept telling myself:
I’ll see the swaying boughs of a leafy tree and hear it rustle softly
Someday soon
Fragile wildflower perched precariously on a grassy verge
Someday soon
This sombre sky will turn a brilliant shade of dazzling blue
Someday soon
Promises I make to myself
Hopes I hold
Dreams of an eternal happiness…
Not yet, my elated thoughts subside
For I am alone
And I can see no end to this road
