Fly High
Hamasaki Ayumi 'A BEST' 2001
By Hamasaki Ayumi, 'Fly High' is a fast paced song which i feel fits the series well as an opening. The mix of fast 'rap' parts and chorus with the slower verses are good in an opening animation to show a transition between senshi and real life. The lyrics also apply well to the ideas of time and the senshi moving in time for different people.
2.
Evolution
Hamasaki Ayumi 'I Am' 2002
One of my favourite songs, Evolution by Ayu is a very pacy song starting out calmly with a lovely oriental-sounding introduction and then it just takes off. Chosen as either a battle song, or a song Esa and Cassie sing as a joke, I love the way Ayu belts out those lyrics at such a high speed.
3. Heart wa kokiatsu sa
EMU 1999
Heart wa Kokiatsu sa is a song from Sotsugyou M and by the seiyuu group EMU (containing a couple of my favourite seiyuus). No particular relevance to any 'bit', just a song the boys - Hakkai, Ken, Duo and Quatre - sing as a laugh for Ariel. I can just imagine Ken singing 'daijoubu sa' with the others cracking up around him ^_^
4. Ken
Weiß Kreuz Original Soundtrack 1998
A fast but chirpy enough bgm, applies obviously to Ken but can apply to any of the boys.
5. Moonlight Angel
Masami Okui
I love Moonlight Angel and it has such a happy sound - 'Wow wow Dancing in the Moonlight' - a song for the senshi as normal people having fun basically.
6.
Happy Day
DiGi Charat
The chibis set up their own singing group, Sakura, and this is one of their songs they sing as part of school events etc along with 'Suki suki suki kisu shite' from Steel Angel Kurumi. Happy Day is very bouncy song, and a cheeky sounding song which fits the Chibis very well
7.
Platinum
Card Captor Sakura OST4 1998
I think i mentioned somewhere else that I love Platinum. The third CCS opening and a gorgeous bright and cheerful opening theme that, thanks to Maaya's voice retains a nice kind of floaty of ethereal theme to it. Another senshi-as-civilians-enjoying-real-life song I suppose.
8. Am I the Chosen Warrior?
Sailor Moon S 1994
From Sailor Moon, a calming peaceful theme, pretty generic and like the next three themes, used in a range of peaceful situations that come with real life ^_^
9.
A Peaceful Day
Card Captor Sakura OST1 1998
More CCS bgms, they're really excellent as they seem to fit well with the Sailor Moon music. As the title suggests, a light and peaceful reality theme
10.
A Fresh Morning
Card Captor Sakura OST1 1998
Another peaceful reality theme
11. Sunset
Sailor Moon 1992
From Sailor Moon, the main theme is noticeable in this piece. A very calming theme, when the senshi are relaxing and almost a romance theme
12. For the Princess
Sailor Moon Stars 1996
'For the Princess' is a slowed down violin version of the Sailor Stars theme. A slight melancholy edge to it, when the senshi have found out about their new battle with Laverna and their realisation that their peace is over
13. Twinkle of Stars Card Captor Sakura OST2 1998
Yet another CCS theme, and continuing a melancholy theme but a little more peaceful. When the three Zodiacs are lying on Cassie's outside roof in Arc I
14. Soar
SMS Movie Music Collection 1995
'Soar' is a lovely piano piece from Sailor Moon and again quite a melancholy piece but it applies quite well to Juno I think or Mell, and also useful as a background 'talking' piece. Reminds me alot of 'Fishermans Horizon' from FF8 in places
15.
Aphrodite of Death
Utena - ‘La Fillette Revolutionaire’ OST1 1997
Utena music is of a very high quality and I love the dark but grand sounding 'Shi no Aphrodite'. Quite reminiscent of the pieces on 'Reflections' from the part where Cassie reaches her low in the car in Arc IV.
16. Eternal Promise Masami Okui 'NEEI' 2001
'Eternal Promise' is a quiet love song, i see it as a theme for Athene and Ken mainly as Athene finally gives in. It can be used as a theme too for Duo and Mell as they decide to stay together.
17. All the Best
Digi Charat 2001
Back to the 'singing', 'All the Best' is a great song to put a grin on your face and give you a warm fuzzy feeling inside. It combines the three chibi sailors and Hakkai, Ken and Duo singing the various parts.
18.
Forever Love
X-Japan 'Ballad Collection' 2001
The general love theme of the series. Applies to all the characters in their scenarios of love. 'Forever Love' is a beautiful X-Japan ballad, another of my favourite songs with a very heart rending sound to it. It can sound a little melancholy, but the best love songs all involve a pain of some sort
19. He is everything you want
Vertical Horizon 'Everything You Want'
The only English song, and applies so well to Esa's fickleness especially from Cassie's point of view. A really good and has a very Goo Goo Dolls sound.
20.
Free and Easy
Hamasaki Ayumi 2002
Returning to Ayu, 'Free and Easy' is one of her newest and another good song useful for a special themed battle due to its mix of quiet and loud, slow and fast. The introduction has a ominous sound to it which is particularly good before it quietens down a little.
21.
End Roll
Hamasaki Ayumi 'A BEST' 2001
For me, 'End Roll' is a perfect ending theme. The introduction is long to 'prepare' as an episode finishes with a slow and quiet start. The lyrics apply well and the general sound of the song is quite 'conclusive' and when i hear it i can see credits rolling up a screen in my head.
