Brash, superconfident, mischevious and hotheaded, sometimes it is hard to see why Ariel is so popular but despite being quite annoying everyone knows she only wants to have fun. Half-saiya-jin and from the future she is Esa’s 17 year old daughter from the Crystal Millennium.

In that future, Ariel and he two best-friends, Juno of Jupiter and Athene of Mars were becoming bored with the regular routines of their lives and distinct lack of fun as Princesses of the Millennium in a circle of school and ceremony. Ariel also feels a sting from an apparent lack of regard her father gives her (and especially when compared to the attention received by her half-sister) and a deep resentment of Topaz ‘toying’ with her family. Ari’s brashness could be seen as an attempt to be as noticeable as possible as well as her Saiya-jin temperament. Ariel wanted to escape and wanted to find out about the 20th Century Esa often reminisced over. Her curiosity and anguish became too much, linking in Athene and Juno to her scheme and secretly begged Persephone, Princess of Pluto to play around with the Time Gate for her. Persephone relented and Ariel returns to the 20th Century, unawares that her mother also had a similar longing for the past. Suddenly the two were the same age and thrown into a bizarre situation for their relationship. Esa had no choice but to tolerate and keep the fieriness in line to disguise the weirdness of the new situation. Ariel meanwhile became oblivious living together with Juno and Athene. Lita and Ami who returned with Esa also found a similar situation with Juno’s presence but the five future senshi managed to live together without too much trouble.

The gradual arrival of the others saw the group grow and the three of Ariel, Athene and Juno has to adopt ‘unweird’ names without the divine implications, so they chose Japanese names fitting to their situations and personalities. Ariel, despite her mischeviousness does hate how fickle and uncaring her mother can be especially over Hakkai who Ariel herself fell in love with. The issues over Esa and Crawford only make Ariel more angry (and more susceptible to tease and jab at Esa) especially when she includes her father into the whole equation. Ariel would ideally prefer Esa to just end up with Cassie thinking it would be far simpler. On the whole though, they decide on a mutual relationship of tolerance (neither trying to let their stubbornness and quick tempers appear). Blonde haired, blue eyed, beautiful with a firey personality and a curious obsession with Digi Charat that makes her try to get Esa and Cassie to sing its songs with her at every possible occasion.

The Heart soldier of the Air

Ariel is a 'Heart Soldier' along with the other Chibis. They do not fully receive their Sailor powers until their mothers have resigned their powers (Sailor Chibi Moon transforms as Serenity is no longer a soldier since she is Queen but the other senshi are still her protectors). Until that time they can become Heart Soldiers to battle wielding a magical sword for which they all own keyring-shaped objects as their henshin. There is one crucial move for the soldiers, the 'Tsuragi no Kokoro' or 'Heart of the Sword' attack. Ariel places her left hand a little distance from the sword blade near the hilt and stands with her hands in front of her face. She chants out:

'The power of the planet Aquarius surround me, the astral power surrounds the sword and the soul unites! Tsu-ra-gi no ko-ko-ro'

A tremendous ball of energy forms between her left hand and the blade and is fired directly at the assailant.
