Mizuno Ami is one of the, if not the most, intelligent of the Senshi. She always excels at school subjects and even, when she was in Japan, national rankings. This seems to be most likely due to the fact that she is reading almost all of the time. Although Ami is intelligent, she is somewhat of a social butterfly in that she is not totally comfortable interacting with other people and would rather be with her books. Nonetheless, Ami is still very good friends with the rest of the Senshi.
As Sailor Mercury, Ami is often called in to analyse the situation using her miniature super computer. In combat, Ami is always thinking on her feet and remains reasonably calm in the face of danger. Ami's attacks are mostly defensive based--this leads some critics to criticise Ami as being the weakest Senshi.
~In the Zodiac series~
Ami returns from the future with Esa and Lita, and she is in a relationship with Lita. Of the group, she is amenable and placid whom no-one finds much fault with but she is friends best with quiet, shy Quatre and Teimei, and Esa, her intelligence counterpart within the group. She lives with Lita and the three chibi-sailors, acting in a very ‘motherly’ role in their house keeping the three chibis under control, but she still finds trouble with Athene and Ariel together.
