~*Ian as Dr Patrick Spiller*~
Ian joined the set of Casualty in 1999 after signing a £200,000 deal with the BBC. His character, Patrick Spiller is a Senior Registrar and makes no hesitiation in telling people his status. He is perceived as arrogant, superficial and his bedside manner is nothing short of poor. He'll treat the patients and thats it.

Ian's first appearance as Patrick Spiller on the 11th  of December, careering down the street in his car. When he arrives and meets Holly for the first time, it is evident to the staff that these two have met before. Sean in particular is intriegued by the relationship. Patrick, ever the flirt asks Holly out on serveral occasions only to be turned down. This doesn't dampen his spirit for women however, and presumably to make Holly jealous, he tries it on with as many females as possible during his working hours, even placing bets with Max in Series 15 that he was bag the *victim* first. But, as many of us believe, this is all an act. At the end of Series 14, after Holly has an unfortunate run in with a patient, Patrick tells her: "You're the best SHO in the room..." and she retorts: "I'm the only SHO in the room!" And hugs her. The viewers are on the edge of their seats, and we all thought that Holly and Patrick would get together in the next series
.

During Seres 15, the sexual tension between the two hits sky high, resulting in numerous bickering and then fond make-ups. Patrick appears to soften up over the year, firstly by learning some social skills when on call with the Paramedics. We start the believe that Patrick will change his tune. The peak of their relationship was in the episode "Merry Christmas Doctor Spiller" in which the two become snowbound when Patrick's car breaks down. They shelter in a barn and discover some home truths about each other, which seems to bring them together. Holly seems to take a geunine interest in Patrick for once, and although Patrick tries to kiss her and she refuses, nothing has got so special between them.
In the following episodes, Holly starts to receive gifts from an unknown admirer which she thinks is either Dan or Patrick. She confronts the latter and he denies it, and takes pleasure in mocking her torrid love life. She finds out it is also not Dan which leaves her even more confused. The situation deepens when the intruder breaks into her car, putting flowers on the seat. Holly walks to work and tells Patrick the problem, who offers to take her home.
The climax of this love affair comes when Holly finds out who the admirer is. She decides not to walk home, and instead accepts Patrick's lift. But when they go out to travel home, his car has been vandelised and his tyres slashed. Tom Harvey, an anaethetist at Holby, asks her round for a drink and Holly goes. She arrives at Tom's house (which, I add was very nice!) and they enjoy a drink. Dan Robinson turns up on the door and tells Holly that he knows who the admirer is. Tom invites him in and offers him a drink, and while preparing it he opens the fridge and adds some anaethestic he has stored in there. Dan crashes out, and Holly begins to worry. Tom tells her he's probably drunk and she agrees. The drink up and then Tom tells Holly how much he cares for her, which scares her. She goes to the bathroom to freshen up and when on the way back, she takes a wrong turning and ends up in Tom's study. She sees a trinket box and out of curiousity, she takes a peep. Inside she finds her hairbands she lost, and her Hospital picture which was taken one day while she was working. She looks out the window and the reflection reveals the wall behind her, which is covered with close up photos. She screams and Tom finds her, and realises she's discovered the truth. He becomes violent with her and out of defence, she wacks him around the jaw with a statue, and he blacks out.
Patrick, after this, is partically concerned for Holly's welfare and is angry that he wasn't there to protect her. They think this is the last of Tom Harvey but one day when Holly walks back to her car from work, she is knocked out by someone. In the next episode we find out who attacked her and its Tom again, who has been released on bail. He ties her up and takes her to the disused boiler room. He tells her that he loves her, and gives her a dress to wear. She puts it on and he plays Robbie William's Angels. He tells her that she is an angel, then goes to get the syringe.Patrick, who is concerned to where Holly has gone, goes to find her with Spencer and Dan. They realise that Tom has come back and while on route to the Boiler Room, they find Andrew (Duffy's husband) sprawled out at the bottom of the steps. Tom, who had come across his path earlier, had pushed him down and they can't save him. While Tom is away, Holly gets up and attracts attention by throwing a chair out the window. Patrick and Dan, who are frantically trying to find her, hear this and run to her rescue. They find the room and Tom returns, hearing disruption and injects Holly. She becomes paraplegic. Dan runs after the escaping Tom and the latter jumps off a Balconey, unaware that there is a large drop. Dan tries to hold on but Tom falls to his death. Meanwhile, Patrick is performing mouth to mouth on Holly who eventually comes round. She sees him and hugs him tightly. Patrick smiles, finally content. Holly seems like the only woman for him.

Viewers thought this was the start of something big...the desperation Holly showed for his arms. But in Series 16, Holly is no where to be seen except a postcard. Now what? You can read some scripts I have spent AGES making that shows the dialogue between the two,
