Dear Diary,

Hi! It's Hermione (obviously). The most wonderful thing happened to me today! It all started after Harry's Quidditch match (we won, of course, after another spectacular save from Harry). Harry had already gone inside (I think he was going to talk with his girlfriend Cho-he seemed quite embarrassed when I asked him where he was going,) but I stuck around with Ron. He wanted to ride Harry's Firebolt and if Harry was going to be with Cho, I didn't really want to go inside. So I stayed outside and watched Ron zoom around in the sky. It wasn't that bad, really. I really enjoy spending time with Ron, maybe more than a friend should. Then he stopped flying and landed in front of me.

"Do you want a go on it?" he asked me.

Yeah, right! Who did he think he was kidding! Me, Hermione Granger, on a broomstick? But he gave me those sad puppy eyes that always made my heart melt. What could I do but say yes? So I mounted the Firebolt against my will. I was really nervous. Ron must have noticed, because he asked, "Do you want me to ride with you?"

I quickly said no, I'd be fine, but then I shook with anticipation of going up in the sky and said yes. He got on behind me and put his arms around me. I tensed up, but then relaxed. He gently kicked up off the ground.

What a rush! It was so amazing, flying up in the sky. It was…there aren't any words to describe it, except for it was a rush. I then made the stupid mistake of looking down. Oh my gosh, were we really that far off the ground? Ron sensed I was nervous again because he tightened his grip on me. I looked back up.

"Ron, I'm going to fall," I said nervously.

"No, you're not," he replied. "I'm right here, don't worry, I'm not going to let you fall." His words comforted me, and I managed to relax. It was a cloudless evening. He brought us up higher so we could see the sunset.

"Oh, my gosh," I breathed. "It's beautiful."

"I thought you might like it," Ron said, resting his chin on my shoulder. I tensed up again, but he didn't notice, or he noticed but didn't say anything. We just stayed that way for a couple minutes, just the two of us, lost in the peacefulness of the moment. Nothing was to ruin it. Except for…

"Mr. Weasley! Miss Granger! Come down this instant!" yelled none other but Snape. Ron steered us down and landed a couple feet away from Snape. "I'm sorry to break up you're little lovefest up there," he sneered. Ron turned bright pink, and I felt my cheeks get hot. "Flying after hours? 5 points from Gryffindor. Get inside, and be grateful it isn't more." We obeyed and walked inside, Ron carrying the Firebolt. We walked into the Great Hall, but Ron stopped. I looked back at him.

"Ron?" I asked. He was looking at me in this funny way. "Ron, why are you looking at me like that?" Then he blinked and snapped out of it.

"Uh...nothing, Hermione," he stammered. "We'd better get to the common room before Snape had an excuse to take more points off on us."

So we walked back to the common room. All the while back, I thought, 'Flying isn't that bad. Not bad at all.'
