

Saturday Slaughter: from Viking Hall in Philadelphia, PA (Feb 05, 2005)
Ryan "Martini" Duncan and ob Sky welcomed everyone to GCA's Saturday Slaughter. They opened the show by recapping Throwdown's exciting action. They tehn said that they were in Philadelphia, PA and the crowd was ready for some action!
GCA Chairman Stefano came out and said that he was happy everyone could witness some great MMA action. He then said that he wanted to take a moment to announce two things. The first thing he wanted to announce were the judges. He said the three judges on a permanent basis were himself, Hulk Hogan and Billy Blanks!
The crowd cheered as Stefano smiled. He then said that his second announcement had to do with Pay Per View. He said that originally GCA would have a PPV event the last Saturday of every month, with Feb 26 being the date of "GCA 1: No Love Lost." Stefano then said "No Love Lost" Would not be happening on Feb 26.The fans jeered but Stefano smiled. He said that "No Love Lost" would happen Feb 12 and then there would another GCA PPV on the 26th! Stefano said that GCA would be bringing two action packed PPV's a month! At the Mid-Month PPV, only the Light Heavyweight title would be defended, but at the End of the Month event, the David V Golath Trophy as well as the GCA Heavyweight Title! He thanked everyone for their support of this new venture and said many more fighters would be arriving over the next little while...now onto the action!
Ryn Duncan and Bob Sky said that the two PPV's a month would be reasonably priced so everyone could afford them and said this will mean bigger cards and wilder events for the fans.
They then previewed the first match. It would be the 19 year old Esteban Suave versus "The Furious Fist" Li Yung Esteban had both the reach, height, and weight over Li Yung. yet, what was working for Li Yung was the fact he was into Jeet Kun Do and therefore probably fast with his hands.
"I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred started to play and the Philly crowd started to laugh. Esteban Suave came out strutting and bopping to his music. He then got into The House of Pain aka The Pentagon and waited.
"My Sacrifice" by Creed started to play and the fans cheered as Li Yung came out. Ryan and Bob commented on how much he looked like Bruce Lee. Li made it to the Pentagon and took his spot. Julia Stevenson, the Siren of The Pentagon did her thing.
"Standing to my left dressed in the white trunks with the heart on the backside, is a man skilled in Brazilian Ju-Jitsu. he stands at 6'2", Weighed in at 184 pounds...Fighting out of Rio De Jinero, Brasil...he is Esteban SUAVE!"
Boos from the crowd...
"And his opponent, from peking, China, standing at 5'9", Weighing in at 135 pounds, dressed in the black spandex shorts, trained in the art of Jeet Kun Do..."The Furious Fist" Li YUNG!"
The crowd applauded and cheered, then Erc Brody took centre ring as Julia left...
"I want a clean fight...Yung "YOU READY FOR COMBAT?" Esteban...'YOU READY FOR COMBAT?" IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 1: The crowd started to cheer as the fight began. This was classic Strikver v Grappler. Esteban surprised everyone by charging and getting a single leg takedown, while he trying to work the foot, Li caught him with a couple of stiff punches. They got up and Esteban got Li in a clinch and tried to get the double underhook. They traded knee shots for a while and Li was pressed against the Cage, but esteban coulod only get one arm hooked under Li's armpit. Esteban the nchanged his strategy and got Li down with a Hip throw. He immediately chased after Li and used his legs to apply a Triangle Choke which made Li tap! Everyone was stunned by the result was:
Winner at 3:20 of Round 1 by way of Submission: Esteban Suave!
Ryan and Bob concluded that this was Brazilian Ju-Jitsu at it's finest.
After the commercial, they showed the Tap out again and the Triangle Choke. Ryan then said he'd like to see Esteban against Hip Hop Dave Franklin. Bob agreed and said that would be a great match up.
It was now time for two more Light-Weights to take the stage. It was time for "Rather Studly" Mike Burnett v Nick "The Nightmare" Johnson. The Tale of the Tape revealed that Nick had a two inch eight advantage and Mike Burnett had a 10 pound weight advantage. they also used contrasting styles. Burnett was a stand up fighter and Nick like the mats.
"No Leaf Clover" by Metallica started to play and the fans started to rock out as Mike made his way to the Pentagon with long time friend Walt Peterson. Ryan said that Walt was a signee with GCA and would soon be making his Pentagon debut. Bob said the reason he was out there was because he and Mike were long time friends. Mike got in his spot and talked with Brody. The fans in Philly were cheering loudly for both men and Bob explained that was because of their past Pro Wrestling backgorunds. Bob said Mike has noterity in Toronto, and Philadelphia.
"Sleeping Awake" by P.O.D started to erupt and out came Nick to boos. Bob said that these fans in Philadelphia were something else. Nick enetred and talked with brody and then Julia Stevenson took the stage with a lot of wolf whistles.
"Standing to my left, dressed in the Gray Shorts with the "Toronto Maple Leafs" emblem, is a man who is deadly in Shotokan Karate. He stands at 5'11", weighs 167 pounds, he is a former ECW Hardcore revolution World Champion...from Toronto, Ontario, Canada..."Rather Studly" Mike BURNETT!"
Ryan explained that ECW was a wrestling promotion here in Philadelphia that had closed but still was remembered fondly. There was a split chant of "Mike!" and "ECW!"
"And his opponent, from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He stands at 6'1" and weighs 157 pounds. He is a Freestyle Wrestler, dressed in the Green Wrestling Singlet...Nick "The Nightmare" JOHNSON!"
Ryan and Bob speculated about who would win as Brody took control.
"Remember to obey my commands...Burnett, "YOU READY FOR COMBAT?" Johnson..."YOU READY FOR COMBAT?"..."IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 1: The fans cheered as Burnett and Nick "The Nightmare" Johnson met in the middle of the Penatgon. Mike struck out first with an inside kick, but Johnson slipped it. He then tried to take down Burnett, but Mike was able to get away. However, as Mike turned his back to make a break, Nick grabbed Mike from behind with a waistlock and actaully suplexed Mike hard on the mat! Mike looked out of it at first as Nick rolled over and tried to ground and pound. He got a couple of shots in but Mike regained his composure and covered up. He then was able to roll out of it with a sweep and both men got on their feet. Nick tried to press the advantage he had going but Mike responded wqith a full crescent kick that put Nick on his butt! Nick seemed dazed as Burnett rushed in with a low thrust kick. Nick snapped out of it and The Nightmare was able to catch the foot , hook both legs, sweep Mike onto his back, and then lift and slam Mike into the mat! The round then ended
Ryan said it looked like both men had taken some damage. Bob Sky commented that they both went for big moves in Round 1. It was an unpredictable match up, but Bob was worried about the two hard slams Burnett has taken.. After the rest, Eric Brody called them back...
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT? YOU READY FOR COMBAT? IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 2: They met in the middle and clinched, and Nick took Burnett down with a nice slam. Burnett set up the guard and then was able to control Nick's movement. They wreatled back to the Cage, where Burnett got to his feet, did a nice leverage move to get Nick against the Cage, stepped back then leaned forward with a left reverse chop that caught Nick in the cheek. Mike then followed that up with a straight right. Nick covered up as Burnett threw punches and kicks. Burnett threw a left and Nick was able to duck it , get a signle underhook and he slammed Burnett down. He then got in some shots to the ribs when the buzzer sounded, ending the second Round.
Both Ryan and Bob said this was a close fight, with Nick hitting some big slams, but Burnett landing some good strikes. Brody then got ready to start the third Round.
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT? YOU READY FOR COMBAT? IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 3: It started off with both men looking a bit tired, but Nick trying for a single leg takedown. Burnett went back to the cage and held onto it woith one hand for extra support as he rained down punches with the other hand. He went for an inside hook and caught Johnson in the head. Johnson immediately backed away and shook his head. They circled each other, looknig for an opening. Burnett faked a front kick but then went for a stright left thrust kick that connected weakly. While Burnett was off balance from the kicks, Nick Johnson rushed in, and tackled Burnett, the force of the tackle caused them both to fall back into the Cage where Burnett smashed against it the back of his hed before hitting the canvas! Brody jumped in and got Johnson off of Burnett. A large gash was opened on the back of Mike's head and he seem disoriented. Brody then put a stop to the fight! The fans booed as they saw Nick stand tall.
Winner at 3:55 of Round 3 due to Referee Stoppage: Nick "The Nightmare" Johnson!
Both Ryan "Martini" Duncan and Bob Sky said Brody did the right in stoppnig the fight and said that it was a great bout.
After the break, Duncan announced it was time for the Heavyweights! The first match-up would feature "Big Mac Attack" Travis McClain against Jack Carter.It was time for The Tale of the Tape. This was a battle of two monsters, scary as it sounds, at 6'4", 270 pounds, Travis McClain was both shorter and lighter than Jack Carter! McClain was a practicioner of Drunken Boxing and Carter was into Greco Roman wrestling.
"Kill and Deceive" by Figure Four started to play and the Big Mac Attack made his way to The Pentagon. He looked like he was all business as he stood in his spot and talked with the ref.
"Farewell Senator" by Fighting Jacks started to play and out came Jack Carter. He made his way down the aisle and got into The House of pain. He towered in there and looked very menacing. Bob Sky commented that Jack Carter epitomizes the Goliath aspect of the DvG Trophy. Julia Stevenson then got in the ring to the delight of many of the fans.
"It is time for a Heavyweight match! Standing to my left, wearing the Silver Trunks with White Trim. He is a Drunken Boxer. Standing at 6'4", Weighing in at 270 pounds...from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania he is "The Big Mac Attack" Travis MCCLAIN!"
"And his opponent...standing at 6'7", weighing 305 pounds. From Santa Monica, California. he is dressed in the Red Wrestling Singlet, a Greco Roman Wrestler...Jack CARTER!"
Julia left the ring and Eric Brody took charge.
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT? YOU READY FOR COMBAT? IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 1: Travis and the huge Jack Carter met in the middle, Jack tried a bearhug but Travis stumbled back like a drunk. Jack looked confused but threw a punch forward, it grazed Travis's face. Jack then pushed Travis up against the mesh of the pentagon and tried to work him over. Jack had a good clinch and was able to nail some knees. He then got Travis in a headlock and got Travis down, both men were on their knees with Jack trying to look for a submission but Travis fighting it well. Travis tried throwing punches at Jack's kidneys and Jack tried a kamura but the round was over.
Round 2: Round 2 started off explosive wit Jack carter trying to ram Travis into the Cage, but Travis sidestepped, jack rammed the Cage and Travis threw a kick hard into Jack's kidneys! Travis then tried to wrap his arms around jack's waist and take him to the mat, but Jack rolled through it and tried to mount Travis! Neither man could get in a good posiition so they got back to their feet. Jack threw a couple of weak strikes but Travis easily avoided them. The Big Mac Attack then tried a kick but Jack stepped away. Jack backed Travis up to the Cage and clinched. Jack threw a nice forearm at Big Mac's head, hitting him above the eye. Jack then picked Travis up and literally bodyslammed him! The thud riccocheted through Viking Hall as the fans expressed their surprise. Jack then started grind his forearm into McClain's nose as Roiund 2 drew to a close.
Round 3: Travis threw a shot that missed and Jack landed an open handed slap on Travis's chest. He then took Travis down by using a wristlock.He tried to use the wrist lock as submission, but Travis got back up and McClain kicked Carter hard in the shoulder to break the hold. Carter went for a waistlock, knocking McClain against the cage again, but Travis stood his ground and drove his elbows into the head and back of Carter. Just before the round ended, McClain caught Carter's calf with multiple heel strikes. Bob commented it didn't look pretty, didn't make a nice sound like crashing on the mat, but were good as a weardown.
Round 4: Travis came out, jackl tried another clinch, but Travis stumbled back, and then stumbled forward and jumped with a wicked overhand punch that connected on Jack's forehead, Jack fell back on the mat was Brody said it was over!
Winner at 0:10 of Round 4: "Big Mac Attack" Travis McClain!
Both Ryan Duncan and Bob Sky were amazed at how quickly the fight ended. Bob said that's the danger with strikers, one good shot, or one lucky shot and it's lights out.
After the commercial, it was time for the Main Event! It would be Andrew Woods v "Le Champion Du Monde" Lucien Belanger This promised to cap off an already explosive evening. It was time for The Tale of the Tape. Andrew Woods was 2 inches taller but gave up 50 pounds! he was a street fighter whic\h meant he'd use anythnig to win while Belanger was a student of the mysterious French Martial art, Savate.
"Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen started to blare from the speakers as Andrew Woods came out with Nigel Watkins, Gary Campbell and Tyson McDermott. They got in his corner and he got into the Pentagon.
"TNT" by AC/DC started to play as Lucien Belanger came out. Ryan stated that Lucien made some strong comments in his pre-fight interview.
Now it was time for Julia Stevenson:
"Standing to my left, wearing the Khaki trunks...standing at 5'11" and weighing 210 pounds, he is a Street Fighter from Liverpool, England...Andrew WOODS!"
"And his opponent...from Nice France, wearing the Light Blue Short Tights. he is a savate expert who stands at 5'9" and weighs 260 pounds..."Le Champion Du Monde" Lucien Belanger!
"ALL RIGHT BOY MAIN EVENT! WOODS, YOU READY FOR COMBAT? BELANGER, YOU READY FOR COMBAT? IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 1: Belanger came out with a fancy spin kick, but Woods dodged and then hit an uppercut. Belanger backed up and Woods tried another punch, Belanger blocked and countered with a quick jab that caught Woods on the cheek. Woods answered back with a kick to the outer thigh and then a kick on the shin. They exchanged weak punches and kicks like that for the rest of the round.
Round 2: Round 2 opened up with Woods on the attacking, throwing left and right jabs, and Belanger being backed to the Cage in attempts to avoid them. Andrew then faked and threw an elbow that busted open Belanger's nose! Belanger tried attacking but Andrew was able to bob and weave. They once again countered everythnig they threw at eachj other and the Round was over.
Bob Sky commented that Woods got in more shots, but because of his weight, they didn't do as much damage, except for that elbow. belanger, although stronger, seemed to be slower so he can't connect with the power strikes.
Round 3: Round 3 started off with Belanger faking and hitting a left handed strike. He then pivoted and tried a big spinning kick, Andrew dodged, but Belanger got a second sweep in. He then got behind Woods and hauled Woods down. As Woods was goin down, he hooked Belanger's leg and then on the mat he applied the Knee Bar! Belanger had no choice bu to tap!
Winner by Submission at 3:16 of Round 3: Andrew Woods!
Ryan "Martini" Duncan and Bob Sky were amazed at the end of that fight. They thanked everyone for watching, reminded them of Tuesday Throwdown and then week, Feb 12, GCA's "No Love Lost." They then signed off and reminded everyone to check the website for exciting News Updates.
