ATTENDEE COMMENTS/MEMORIES

Ginger's Diary

FRIDAY
I arrived, like everyone else, around 2pm and VERY nervous. I knew one email address and name (Cat). So, when I got there I peaked my head in and said hello, but realized that it didn't matter IF I said my name because noone was looking for me or knew who I was! LOL! Anyway, I entered the room to a lot of looks, but soon was introduced to my roomie Lisa, who took me under her wing and showed me to our room. I'll admit the rest of the day was a blur due to nervousness, but I see that I've ended up with three new zines and a WONDERFUL drinking mug that has just a handle so there's NO way to put it down until all the ale is gone! The remarkable thing is these people JUST met me and couldn't have matched me up with any better of a gift! LOL! Kimber finally arrived later that evening so our room was semi-complete (no Robin til Sunday) and we sat up till late, late, late discussing story ideas... I drifted off while Lisa and Kimber talked. Kimber was reading when I fell asleep and still when I woke up - I think she didn't sleep, did you girl!

SATURDAY
The Great Cyclorama and Zoo trip. Well, what more can I add to the comments already made except that -- does EVERYTHING we think of revolve around the seven?? LOL! I'm just as guilty, a train that says TEXAS, A map with Ezras church, constant photos around the cannon, seven ducks got assigned names, the pandas will never be the same, and the babboon had a personal message for CBS for cancelling the show. YOu know, things like that. LOL! The Cyclorama, as mentioned was AMAZING!! The painting itself is incredible, but the actual diorama portion of it was just as amazing. If you haven't seen it then you're missing out on something pretty cool.

The Discussion Panel was VERY helpful. We discussed Lady Chris' story (can't wait to read it), feedback and what writer's like to see (or not see) and why, and h/c (a favorite topic of mine) and I ended up with hurt/Inez comfort/Ezra for Jilly in the great h/c challenge.

That night we went to the Great Spaghetti Factory - The food was great. The waiter was pretty nice - from Michigan, right Jilly? I was sure to document everyone as they left for home just to ensure they're families had some final words of what to do with their Mag7 collections. We couldn't read the map in our vehicle, so the back up plan was finding a Starbucks if we got lost. Shay has an excellent sense of direction so THAT didn't happen (DAMN! My plan was foiled!! LOL!).

The White Elephant Exchange landed me with a copy of the four music videos - which I have TOTALLY enjoyed. It was my first viewing of someone else's music vids. btw, I have downloaded the Maybe Tomorrow song and it's by Terry Bush from the soundtrack of Littlest Hobo. Took me a while to find it! LOL! I've listened to it a million times and it ALWAYS makes me think of you guys and our wonderful weekend. I discovered some beer drinking buddies (Amy and Tracy) and gravitated to them. Actually they came to me because I had the bottle opener. A girl mustn't be unprepared for such things! LOL! Anyway, I had a great time brainstorming with my roomies that night and again, I fell asleep first. Oh well. HEY, all that energy doesn't JUST happen, you know!! LOL!

SUNDAY
Stone Mountain! What a BLAST once we parked. Course, Lady Chris and I entertained the car with our constantly growing version of "She'll be Comin' 'Round the Mountain". Who knew it had so many verses! We did the train ride - what a hoot and the Steamboat. That big metal construction thing you all asked about plays music... I have it on tape so you'll be able to hear it. We also saw the female version of Eugene from Wagon Train. (remember what I said about everything revolving around...). Anyway, we were turned away from the wedding reception upstairs even though we TOLD the guy we had the Rock N Roll pass (he wasn't impressed). Lady Chris tried to feed the ducks after we all had our Wanted posters made - we're worth a million dollars, you know! Vin was only worth $500! The final portion of our Stone Mountain trip was the hike up the actual mountain. WE DID IT!! WE ARE QUEENS OF THE WORLD!! It was amazing to see such a far stretch... definitely worth the effort. Film will be at eleven!! LOL!

That night, Agatha's and Cat and I's debut! We ROCKED as we were Space Cowgirls! Couldn't have paid the guy to give us more appropriate parts. We dressed our parts (napkin neckerchiefs) and made the most of our moment on the stage. They didn't let us help, though, guess we were too enthusiastic for them, huh Cat!!

Back at the hotel we watched more videos, I gave my beer buddies they're very own bottle openers (which STILL need some heavy breaking in, wouldn't you say?) and we just laughed and had a grand old time the rest of the evening (imagine that!)

MONDAY
Well, I was going to get an early start, but pizza for lunch and a trip to the mall and Build A Bear persuaded me to stay a little longer. PLUS Shay, Kate, Emily and I hit the Starbucks - ahhhh, hot liquid refreshment!! I finally left around 4:30 and managed to miss all the traffic that Nancy spoke of.

I had a BLAST! I have been to many Bonanza gatherings, but this was my first Mag7 get together and it continues to floor me how you meet strangers the first day, but when you leave it's like you're leaving family. I can't wait to see all of you again REAL soon. If you're in South Carolina, look me up! You all have a place to stay - always!

Thanks again to Amy and Cat - I've said it before, you did an AMAZING job! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
