Em's Diary
Thursday
It all started for me in the early hours of the morning with the trip up to London, followed by a nerve-wrecking 3 hour wait at the airport (I HATE those places!!) and then a 9 hour flight to Atlanta...*yawn*
Once we'd landed & I'd tracked down my luggage I trudged along to the Atlanta Bread Company, where I found Lisa. You could tell I was tired by this point - Lisa was sat there in an M7 t-shirt, with a big ol' folder of M7 pics in front of her, and I still almost walked right past
We went & picked up her car, made our way to the hotel. I started with the 'oooh-ing' and 'aaah-ing' (which I continued most of the weekend
When I got in my room I just about collapsed. I'd dumped my case and had a bit of a nose about the place when I heard a knock at the door. I opened it to find Cat standing there, bearing gifts! My Secret Brig had sent me some goodies, and Cat herself handed me a big box of Butterfingers (THANK YOU Cat!!) - she knows that I'm a huge Butterfinger fiend, and we don't get them in the UK *g*...
Friday
Next morning Cat, Lisa & I went to Kroger's grocery store, to pick up some last minute bits. I was 'persuaded' to get a cake mix & pot of frosting...and I just HAD to get a box of Froot Loops, for reasons I won't go into here (not beacuse they're unmentionable, just lame*g*) I had great fun seeing all the brand names we don't get back home, but that I see on tv all the time!! Hell, I admit it - I'm easily pleased*g*
Tell you the truth after that everything starts to blur! We ate sandwiches, made keychains (I managed to break mine, even after Cat's patented 'tug test'!), opened our gifts...I got two cute little china boxes - one shaped like a cannon, the other a pulpit - and a MacGyver mousemat - RDA *sigh*
Oh, and we watched Serpents!! *Woo-hoo!!* I've waited - what is it? 2 years? - to see this ep! And it was worth it...wonderful Ezra moments...not too sure about the whole Josiah dream thing though!?! It was just so nice to watch the show with a bunch of folks who understand!!!*g*
When I thought that I just couldn't keep my eyes open for a second longer I headed back to the room I was sharing with Nancy, Holly and Deb...and spent another good hour (at least!) laughing & talking with them.
OK, mostly laughing...at Deb and the recliner*g* And the chicken bomb story!!*g*
Saturday
I was with the group who headed for the Mall of Georgia - my first taste of a real American shopping mall!! And I was duly impressed - WOW!! I live near the biggest mall in Europe, and this place easily beats it size wise!! We (me, Cat, Gen, Tracy, Nee, Jilly, Judi and Amy) met up to decide where to go first. Well, Cat mentioned a place called Build-a-Bear...which was absolutely fatal! I collect bears, have about 200 of them. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to make that 201, so off we went. I think we might've scared the folks in there a little*g* I made an Ezra bear, complete with hat, boots and smart little waistcoat - and a pair of sunglasses a la that pic of Tony in full Ezra gear + shades*g*
That evening we went to the Spaghetti Factory. I rode in Holly's car, Peso - we took the scenic route*g* And I have no idea what that guy on the pavement wanted either...but after another tour round the block, we found the parking and went in to eat. I loved the decor in there, all crystal chandeliers and velvet upholstery!!
Back at the hotel Nee chaired a h/c panel. I loved all those discussions, listening to the writers talk about how they work, how they see certain things... With all the creativity buzzing around the room I was very nearly tempted to join in the fic-writing challenge...but I'm ashamed to say I chickened out! BTW, a huge thanks to Jilly and whoever else volunteered to write something for us non-writing pards - I really can't wait to read what you come up with!! :oS
Sunday
Sunday we went to Stone Mountain. Took a ride on the noisiest train I think I've ever been on, frightened the other customers, then Robin, Holly & I took a trip on the Scarlett O'Hara river boat. We got wet. If Holly hadn't had her brolly, we'd have gotten even wetter*g* When we got off the boat we did our usual 'could you take a picture for us?' thing to some poor guy, presenting him with about 6 cameras*g* Then we headed over to Stone Mountain Village - one of the cutest litttle places I've seen, I really thought it was adorable! After a little shopping we piled back into Peso and headed home to the hotel, where we watched some more eps. What are you talking about Holly...'overly clothed one'?? I coulda sworn Ezra was the only one in that scene.....*g*
Agatha's - well that was great fun! Extra floor show aside... :oS Captain Smirk and Draino Scuzzy - I loved the way little Scuzzy Jnr cooed and purred! The singing bit I could've done without - I don't mind singing, but it generally helps when (a) I have the words (b) they make sense and (c) they fit into the tune...*shrug* Our very own Space Cowgirls, Ginger and Cat - well, what can I say? You were wonderful!*g*
Monday
Next morning a bunch of us took one last trip to the mall, to get even more bears...and thanks to Holly and her trusty laptop, this time they talked!! I got a Vin bear ('Do I look like a messenger boy?') and an Ezra cat ('When the sanctified dead rise from their graves to recieve judgement, I'll start doling out cash')
And then it was back to the hotel to say goodbye to everyone. *sniffle* Cat took me & Gen to the airport, then it was on to the plane and *blam!* - before I knew it I was home again! It all went by so fast! :o(
I had a wonderful time, it was so nice to put the faces to the names, and to finally meet some Mag7 pards! You are all such a great bunch!
When can we do it again??!....*g*
