ATTENDEE COMMENTS/MEMORIES
Kimber's Diary
Friday
Oh where to start, that's easy. I left Cleveland Ohio around 0700. The mission that I chose was one of entertainment. I was on my way to Atlanta Georgia to meet with a bunch of people I knew nothing about. Yes I had emailed Cat in the past, with her helping with a story I was writing. Amy I had emailed a couple times concerning tapes and things.
Well I left while it was still dark, but still later then I had previously planned. I was afraid general business traffic would now impede on me completing my mission. I sang to songs on the radio as long as I could till I got tired of commercial interruptions. Then I switched to CD's and tapes. By the time I got to Columbus, Ohio, the attack of the plot bunnies began.
Unable to drive and write at the same time I stopped at a Kmart along the way and pick up a recorder, I was needing one anyway for some classes I'm planning on taking, and some tapes. I then resumed my mission and began to tape the tales of plot bunnies. Getting out of Ohio was easy; it's never hard to leave the home state. Getting through Kentucky was another story, no damn rest stops till the state line of Kentucky and Tennessee. The trip was dark and gloomy with the rain and thunderstorms. I had to stop once in Kentucky for gas, thank God they had gas stations.
By the time I reached Tennessee I had grown weary of driving in the rain, it didn't help you could hardly see the road. But unlike Kentucky, Tennessee had rest areas for their weary travelers. Tennessee is a beautiful state I'm sure, can't see much when it's storming, maybe better view on the return trip. Well now we get into Georgia, by then its dark and raining but never fell, they to have rest stops. What is with Kentucky, they don't want anyone to stay longer then the drive to the next border?
Then as I found a nice bluegrass station I bring myself into beautiful downtown Atlanta. At night with all the lights on it is a spectacular city. I follow the (cough, right) directions given to me by my guides Cat and Amy, to the hotel. Yes late but in one piece I might add. There the mayhem begins.
I make it to the front desk and after a few inquiries I find out where to go. I'm at first leery about my mission of entertainment, will I fit in. Damn will they like me or will this be a vacation from hell. As I get closer to the laughter I begin to get nervous and think to myself, will I like my roommates, will they like me.
As I enter the room and the madness begins I find I fit in just right and start to look forward to a great weekend. I met my roomies, Ginger and Lisa and feel right at home like I had known them forever. I get introduced to my undone key chains and much desired reading material in the way of zines. I meet Lady Chris and will always remember her saying I should get the Shadows zine of Vin and Ezra half price. In fact it kept me up all night researching the reason why. Yeah, Deb I agree….he he he he.
Saturday
Well let me see I did not sleep, bonded with my roomies, read about Ezra. I would say I spent my night just right. Me being a night person find it hard at times to sleep. We started off with breakfast and then arrangements were made for the Zoo. Yes we were the nature bunch, left the shopping for later, which is another story in itself. We arrived and started off at the Cyclorama (spelling of the great place leaves my brain at this moment). We have a great time smuggling video camera and all. Will always remember the cannon and the British gentleman. I'm sure we are still the topic of several of his discussions. Right, left, right, left, some right others left. (Ginger knows what I mean. Lol).
We then went to the zoo and had a great time. My sleep depravation was causing much silliness that I now cringe. Of course the hand washing will not make it to video, not professional enough, laughed too much. The ride home was uneventful and home in time to see the wonderful bears the shoppers made and prepare our selves for dinner.
Most of us made it on time for dinner, while others took an unscheduled scenic tour. I know they were looking for guys is all. Not sure if they got lucky, they never really spoke about their side trip. At dinner we had the serious side of the table and then the loud bunch. I found myself involved in the loud bunch, (oh no not me, why I never). The conversation of course was not of the PG nature entirely. Oopps did I forget that in the afternoon we had a discussion panel; at least I think we did. Yeah, on RPG's, yeah that's it. Yeah, it was my first introduction to such a thing as a RPG.
Now back to dinner we discussed more about RPG and other unmentionable items that do not bare repeating for the sensitive ears. And no I will not open an adult version global to expound on the conversation, in others words I laughed so hard and long I forgot most of what was said, just remember the laughing.
The ride home was uneventful, truly. Just ask Cat, and Lisa. See I can't remember because of the head trauma, and the emotional shock of how Cat ran not through but around the stop sign. I will never look at a curb or stop sign the same way again; I'm scared for life.
We went back to the hotel; I crashed soon after to be awakened by my roomies. I'm glad I was, had a wonderful time discussing stories and things. I felt like I was back at college and doing the up all night study sessions, but more fun. I had found I had been recruited into several RPG's oh my God. What, I mean how, OH LORD WHAT HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO. Then sleep overcame me. Oh and do not let me forget the crash in the night. That we investigators of ATF global unit found to be a window that had fallen out to be the cause…could be connected to the condom investigation later in the story…(if the house is a rockin don't come a knockin).
Sunday
Sunday, the day of morning rain and breakfast. We had begun to wonder if we should just stay home and watch the boys. But the adventurers would not allow it to be. We gathered in our little vehicles, by the way mine was Buster. He remains named Buster even to this day. Then the fun began, how to meet up when we find the place to met in down for repairs. We finally meet and progress to the train station. As we board the train several of our group is leery being seen with us and obtain seats behind a gate. Yeah, like that would protect them if we really wanted to get at em.
The train ride begins and we see the sites around us. We have fun making fun of everything we can and still taking in the seriousness around us. The carving of the generals is breathtaking. As the ride ends some decide to walk the mountain, others to go to the village and shop, some the riverboat.
The people in Buster had decided to shop at the village, but when we got there changed our minds for the dry insides of the mall. I had discussed earlier with Nee about going to the mall and see about a bear. So we decided to head for the mall and shop. On our way we noticed a discrepancy in the get back home directions. Well we, being the creative group that we were made it into an adventure.
Cast of Character's
Jilly- Chris (Why am I always Chris, she asks)
Nancy-Was to be Buck at first but appeased Nee the pleasure
Wynde-Ezra (well of course)
Nee-Buck (could she really be anything else)
Me-being the driver I was given the position of Vin. (Oh yeah)
We made it to the mall with much assistance from the merry group. Everyone had a good time I do believe. Me I made me an Ezra and a Vin bear. They talked, but in Jilly's voice. She did a wonderful job. Nee made Ezra a Buck genie bear, and oh the story that came with it…something about being stuffed.
We returned in one piece and without further hindrances back to the hotel. We started to sprits our selves up for dinner at Agatha's. Some got nice and fancy like, some semi fancy, and others comfortable (at least in my opinion, anything with heels is fancy and uncomfortable). We proceeded to discover we are part of the entertainment, (like it mattered being told that anyway). Some speaking parts, others used their god given talents to sing, or write a song and sing it…(Stop, in the….whatever). Then the meal, hmmm, some was impressed others were not. He had several sideshows going on, one being the questionable couple at the back table. (Wonder if money was up front or after the SHOW) Then we became enchanted with Davy Cockit (alias smirkoff, wearing beaver). We proceeded to save the earth from an enlarged believed to be dead but brought back to life overweight but shrunken godfather Marlon Brando. God forbid he looked like a poor imitation of John Belushi in, yes, Animal House.
Oh and by the way we added Tracy in as JD in the car.
We were blessed with an uneventful ride home. Where we started with a discussion about feedback. Then several different discussions continued further. Some people HAD a problem with a condom in their bed. Please, if you do not know that something else is need to make that condom work don't tease like that, a wine bottle is a poor substitute. But does well for educational purposes. People stayed up till all hours of the night, me included. Not wanting the weekend to end. For those following the further investigating of the ATF global unit. We could not find a connection between the window and the condom. Someone did report unusual occupants from the room the window fell out of, something about a southern accent and a roar of a cougar…. (Wynde, hint hint).
Monday
Ah, Monday. The day of packing saying good byes, Cat's mad dash to the airport and others going to the mall…more bears. I was able to make up Josiah, Buck, and Chris. With the help of tracker girl Holly they even had their own voices. Emily had her another animal made to help keep her and the others company on the plane. Lisa made a handsome pony for a friend. Holly made her a Chris to go with her Vin, now he won't be lonely.
When we got back to the hotel it was time for Emily to go the airport with her stuffed furry friends. Holly and me went to check into the Hyatt since she had planned on staying and I decided since most everyone was leaving out late I would stay over and leave the following morning. We had planned to be back in time to see Jilly, Nee, and Lisa off. But the traffic jam would not let this happen.
We stayed and kept Cat company as we ate and watched TV. Amy came by the cleaning up and what to do with what started along with talking about what a great time we had. I will now end my Journal telling everyone what a great time I had. It was great placing faces with the names I had seen writing in the groups. I did not leave Atlanta till Thursday. It was a different ride home, I had sunshine till it darkened because it had become night time, not rain induced. I had traffic in Chattanooga for 11/2 hours, was able to write some as I sat there.
I hope you enjoy the reading as I laughed as I wrote it. Cleaned up a bit I think. You are getting the PG-15 version, bad things implied. Oh did I mention, that Tracy and Nancy were converted to…oh never mind.
