ATTENDEE COMMENTS/MEMORIES

Yvonne's Diary

Yvonne here reporting in about the Chester GG as instructed by Helen our fearless leader. I know its a little after the fact but I was just too busy having fun during the weekend to get around to doing this at the time!

Friday Day 1 saw us gathering slowly in the hotel lobby (note for next time, a sign or cowboy hat or something placed in a nice obvious spot would avoid that awkward 'I wonder if that's them over there in that corner' fretting that I did). Once we had all assembled and started to get to know each other it was time to head off for the creepy Chester Ghost tour...(apologies to all those that got lost following our car - I left Chester a long time ago and my memory wasn't as good as I thought it was, but hey you saw more of scenic Chester, so it wasn't a complete diaster eh?). Much spookiness was had and a good appetite was worked up for the yummy meal that followed. We didn't get back to the hotel til about 11pm but the night was just beginning as we settled down for a serious video watching session and the first of our many conversational trips to the gutter as we ogled over the guys.

On Saturday our numbers were swelled by some day trippers who weren't able to get down for the whole weekend but were determined to join in the fun one way or another...We started off with a fascinating Roman tour of Chester, lead by Paul our tour guide who was dressed as a Roman Centurion ( great guide, but a pity about the hairy legs) we learned all sorts of grisly things about what went on in Chester's amphitheatre (sp?) and I now know more about Roman underwear than I ever thought possible! A session of serious was then followed by Laserquest hwe all ran round shooting each other with our laser guns - the Gunfight at the OK Corral had nothing on us and it was a weary, sweaty but happy bunch of M7 fans that made their way back to the hotel that evening.

Once again we headed off out for a scrummy meal, but this time there was a difference - gone were the jeans and tee-shirt cladded women, now we were all dressed up as fearsome gunslingers and working women - we made quite a stir at the restaurant that was for sure. Then it was back to the hotel for more drooling over the TV screen and making our splundiferous Mag 7 keyrings (just proves you learn something every day - I never knew what a 'crimping device' was prior to this).

On Sunday we had planned to go out to a castle but decided that we'd rather watch the guys instead. So a marathon TV session ensued, much cake, chocolate and pringles were eaten. There was nearly a riot at 3.45pm when we realised the schelduled TV showing of Mag 7 had been cancelled AGAIN, however we were nothing if not resorceful and watched the episode on video instead - but it was the principle of the thing - we've all lost count of how many times the show has been pulled off the air at the last minute in the UK, grrrrrr.

There were few survivors left on Monday morning, and most of us were pretty incoherant by then. Staying up to watch 'Return of the Killler Tomatoes' til 3am will do that to you! Gradually we all drifted back off to our homes and real life with tearful fearwells and goodbyes. Now I know I've left loads out but you got the edited highlights at least :o) Most importantly a great time was had by all and a magnificent job was done by Helen (and her faithful helpers) in organising us 33 lunatics. Thanks Hel, here's to next
