She lays there hungering for him
Beside her, he hungers for another
Sweat trickles down between her breasts
She tries to catch her breath
He gives her a half hearted attempt at affection.
Sadness builds suddenly in her chest
Mumbling same lame excuse about needing some water
She hurries to the kitchen to cry
Alone.
That familiar "used" feeling sets in
Holding her hands over her mouth
Trying to mute her sobs and tears
Sinking to the cold floor in the dark

I know what I do is wrong
No one understands how lonely it gets
Night after night, sleeping alone
No real words, save that of a child's babble
I chose this path and never regret it
Sometimes I need the warmth
If only for a borrowed instant.

Wiping back her tears with a worn towel
She takes a drink and a deep breath
Returning to bed as he gets dressed
Awkwardly, he thanks her with a hug
She wonders what for
Maybe she was just a good fuck.
