Milton Nascimento
Milton nascimento was born in Rio de janeiro, Brazil in 1942. His adoptive
parents were both white, and together with Milton, moved to Tres Pontes.
His mother was a piano teacher, and a singer in a choir. His father, a
mathematic teacher, ran the local radio station, where Milton occasionally
worked as a DJ.
He was influenced by the musical scores of Gershwin, Porter, and Berlin.
He learned music by listening, ans started creating his own music.
His name began to be recognized by public, when the Elis Regina recorded
his "Cancao do Sal" in '66. With his appearence at Brazil's International
song festival in '67, his musical career has started.
Over the years, he has recorded 30 solo albums. His music has been recorded
by numerous US-based musicians, including Stan Gets.
He won the grammy for Best World Music Album in 1997. He has performed
in the U.S , Europe, Japan, and Latin America.
His music is jazz, pops, and a blend of mumerous cultures, including his
roots, Bossa Nova.
