Rosa Passos

One of the few singers dedicated to a genuine Brazilian music, unaffected by trend or commercialism.

Rosa Passos started playing piano at the age of 3, because all her 6 brothers and sisters have started some instruments. Joao Gilberto's "Orfeu do Carnival" has changed her life. She has listened to Gilberto earnestly, and learned the guitar through his performance.
She was also influenced by various American jazz musicians, such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Holiday, Dinah Washington, George Gershwin etc...

From 1968-72, she performed on the TV and festivals, and became one of the leading Bossa Nova singers in time. However, she found no interest in the media and commercials. She often played and composed at home.

She released several albums, including a tribute to her hero, Joao Gilberto.
