DAVIS-RIVERS CEMETERY Chesterfield, SC Located off T. S. Rivers Road (hwy700). Directions: From Jackson Road turn right on T. S. Rivers Road. Go one mile. Look on right side of the road for an old track through the woods ( it bears to the left). Facing the woods bear to the RIGHT for about 200 yds. The graves are in heavy woods near a clearing. | ||

RIVERS CEMETERY - Chesterfield, SC Located on Brook Teal Farm, Jackson Road (hwy 60). Directions: From Zoar Church Road turn left on Jackson Road. Go 1 and 1/4 miles until you come to 2 brick dwellings on right. Turn right just past them onto a dirt road. Go to end of road and look to woods at right. You can see the four Civil War graves. Go behind them to find the Rev. War and other graves. | ||

In 1946, Mr. & Mrs. Stephen Harley Laney of Pageland, SC , descendants of Capt. John Blakeney donated an acre of land to their daughter, Mrs. Hazel H. Davis on which the Blakeney Cemetery was located. Mrs. Davis, local regent of the John Foster Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution deeded the land to the John Foster Chapter of the DAR. The Chapter agreed to sponsor a program and act as custodian and guardian of funds raised by descendants of the Blakeney Family and designated the Blakeney Memorial Fund. |

Earliest known record of John Blakeney in America is found in Granville county, N.C., where he witnessed will of John Lynch, August 31, 1753. it is thought that he came to the Old Cheraws about 1760, or soon afterward.
