PRESTIGE CLASSES:
Overall: Prestige
classes are just that – prestigious. They are uncommon and
hard to aquire. Not all prestige classes are suitable for the
Hyboria campaign, nor are all prestige classes allowable. I will
not be accepting any home-brewed prestige classes at present.
Those that are currently approved of are listed below, by
supplement. Others may be added later as I make decisions. Feel
free to discuss with me your career plans for your character –
I am a firm believer that a player should have a map of his PC's
career advancement in mind.
Dungeon Master's
Guide: Approved Prestige Classes are: - Loremaster –
Loremasters are so rare as to be unheard of, though many more
existed during the Thurian Age of Kull's time. - Shadow
Dancer – the Shadow Dancers are a sect of mystic
performers who travel from Turan to Iranistan. They worship
sacred darkness through their dance.
Sword & Fist:
Approved Prestige Classes are: - Cavalier –
these mounted troops are the elite of both Aquilonia and
Corinthia. - Duellist – these are most common in Argos
and Zingara, where the specialized styles of duelling originated
and are primarily taught. - Ninja of the Crescent Moon –
an elite order of monks based in Kambuja, enemies of the Khitani
Order of the Red Crescent. - Order of the Bow Initiate –
The Order is known only to exist somewhere in Amazonia, in the
Black Lands. They are only women and only teach women. -
Order of the Red Crescent – an elite order of monks based
in Khitai, enemies of the Ninja of the Crescent Moon. -
Weapon Master – no association needed, but one must find
the world's best teacher of whatever weapon you wish to
master.
Defenders of the Faith: Approved
Prestige Classes are: - Contemplative – Aesthetic
orders of Mitra spawn contemplatives – most other
religions are too 'worldly' to support the philosophies of such
divine union. - Divine Oracle – many cults have
oracles, whom they keep as sacred wards in their temples. There
are about three very well known and powerful oracles known. -
Sacred Fist – Martial aesthetics exist mostly throughout
the East, not in the West – particularly in Khitai,
Kambjula, Vendhya and other similar countries.
Tome
and Blood: Approved Prestige Classes are: - Acolyte
of the Skin – must be sorcerors, this is simply the
advancement of the bond to the fiend or demon the sorceror is
bound to. - Alienist – must be wizards, this is simply
the result of the mind's continued exposure to the Old Ones in
their timeless unrest in the Far Realms. - Elemental Savant –
must be sorcerors, this is simply the advancement of the bond to
the elemental the sorceror is bound to. - Pale Lord (NPC
only) – worshippers of death -related gods like Set tend
to spawn these. - True Necromancer (NPC only) –
worshippers of death -related gods like Set tend to spawn
these.
Song and Silence: Approved Prestige
Classes are: - Dread Pirate – the Western Ocean, the
Black Coast and the Barachan Isles breed some of the most
rapicious of sea-bandits. - Thief Acrobat – Training in
being this specialized rogue comes from an elite group of
thieves that supposedly stretch from Argos to Turan, the Border
Kingdoms to Stygia. Few know they exist, much less know their
name, they recruit secretly.
Masters of the Wild:
Approved Prestige Classes are: - Animal Lord –
the most barbarous and savage tribes of the Thurian continent
tend to spawn cults oriented around totemic worship of animals.
Each cult teaches it's own path to those worthy. - Bane of
Infidels (NPCs only) – Popular in the Black Kingdoms. -
Beast Tamer – beast tamers have no group affliation –
those with the sensitivity and empathy for beasts will draw
their own followers and companions. - Frenzied Beserker (NPCs
only) – Asgard and Vanaheim breed the most savage and
reckless barbarian warriors. - Forsaker – no
association needed, but you have to have suffered some magical
trauma...most sensible for barbarians and rangers. -
King/Queen of the Wild – no association needed, but this
again makes the most sense for barbarians and rangers.
